Very nice hotel. The only thing was it was quite noisy – there were some loud guests at the hotel next door. The staff were very nice people. The food was quite basic, we found it a bit boring. Situated on the North-Western corner of Italy and rubbing shoulders with France and Switzerland, Courmayeur is one of the more popular resorts in the Aosta Valley. Famously founded as a spa town in the 17th Century for its natural outlets of pure alpine water, it became a top destination for the mountaineering community around the 19th century and has maintained its traditional image and beauty ever since. With a car-free village centre, this stylish, family-friendly resort is perfect for anyone who wants a c...
Courmayeur has two main areas: the Chécrouit-Val Veny is by far the biggest, serviced by a cable car from Plan Chérouit, a gondola in Dolonne and a cable car in Entrèves for those staying out of town. The Mont Blanc lift network makes up the second area, which includes the legendary Vallee Blanche. The two ski schools (Societa Guide Alpine Courmayeur and Scuola di Sci) maintain a solid reputation intuition and with a number of blues on either side of the ridge, beginners can experience a variety of terrain....
While this is the ski destination for the natives of Turin and Milan, with shopping to match their tastes including the likes of Cartier and Hermes, this isn’t to say the town is only for the elite. Courmayeur is the perfect place to relax in an armchair with a cocktail and canapés in bars like Prive. Bar Americano is perfect for late-night snacking on crepes, sandwiches and burgers. Roma is also a popular destination – in the past, they’ve given out free canapés with drinks. Courmayeur is a hub of Itali...

"lovely Christmas decorations and plenty to do for non-skiers"

Mrs. Jilks, Surrey
5/ out of 5
It’s a great town for non-skiers, there is plenty to do. You can get a bus down to the nearby city of Aosta which is worth doing, there are lots of good shops and the bus journey is cheap. We ate out quite a bit while we were in Courmayeur, there are plenty of restaurants that are very, very good. My husband left his ski stuff at the main gondola and he found it a pain to have to go and collect it every time he wanted to take the bus to a different area. Otherwise he liked the skiing. We also went to the main spa which was expensive (about £50 I think) and packed out, but this might have been because it was Christmas. The Christmas decorations in town were lovely, there was a big Christmas tree and St. Nicholas came and did ‘Ring a ring o Roses’ around the tree with the children. I think Courmayeur is where they televise New Years in Italy so obviously it was very pretty.

Very nice hotel. The only thing was it was quite noisy – there were some loud guests at the hotel next door. The staff were very nice people. The food was quite basic, we found it a bit boring. It would have been better if it had been slightly more adventurous. We ended up eating out a bit because of this. It was Christmas while we were there and the hotel had a gala dinner. Otherwise the hotel wasn’t particularly festive, there weren’t many decorations, but we are used to this when we go away at Christmas. The town itself was nicely decorated.
