More and more first class accommodation has been cropping up in Val Thorens – Europe’s highest ski resort – in recent years, while one of the world’s most iconic luxury resorts, Zermatt, has skiable snow 365 days of the year.

As the departure date comes closer, any leftover rooms often get discounted for late availability. If you can be flexible with departure times, resorts and room types, you can often snap up a 5* holiday for the price of a 4* one (or less).
