On an annual basis, Chamonix's average frozen precipitation is 190cm.
This natural weather-created snowfall is helped along with 96 snow guns or "cannons" on 23km of piste - that's over 15% of the total length of Chamonix trails.
Off-piste snowboarding and sking is allowed and of course this has the secondary effect of reducing the wear and tear on snow condition on the pisted runs.
