In the French Alps' Savoie region, La Plagne was established in the early sixties and now consists of 11 villages: 7 purpose built villages and 4 traditional villages. The aptly named Plagne Centre at the heart of the resort is the main hub of shops, restaurants and après ski. Just underneath lies Plagne 1800, a cluster of chalets spread across a steep hillside. Higher up are Aime-la-Plagne, Plagne-Soleil and Plagne-Villages, all accessible via chairlifts from Plagne Centre. Plagne Bellecote rests over a l...
There are plenty of nursery slopes with access to free beginner lifts and a wide choice of different ski schools for those new to skiing. The slopes around the Belle Plagne area are particularly suitable for beginners. The blue run linking Les Bauches to Montchavin provides a manageable step up in difficulty from the nursery slopes. For those who class themselves as intermediate skiers, La Plagne is paradise. 77% of the runs are graded either blue or red. Particular favourites are the run from La Grand Roch...
It might not rival Val d'sere or Verbier for their wild party scenes, but this is an exceptional resort for unique après ski opportunities. Try snowmobiling at night, ice climbing in Champagny, husky sledding, paragliding, extreme tobogganing and more! One experience not to be missed is the bobsleigh track, used for Olympic training. There are various ways you can choose to go down it, but they are all guaranteed to give you a thrill as you will hurtle down at speeds ranging from 80 km/hr up to a lightening 120...

"Great value"

Loved our week staying at Residence Aspen, great shared living area at the property and excellent location to ski back to. Spar close by which was great. Great value apartment and a good size.

"Wicked place"

Mike, Dorset

My mates and I had an awesome holiday! The people were really cool, and the reception was great. After staying in other cheap accommodation before, we felt spoilt here. The facilities were wicked with a pool, sauna etc. The bedrooms were good, heated, enough space etc. The location was excellent as well, everything was like a 2 min walk. You can ski from the back door too which was brilliant… I just threw on my boots and skis and I was heading down to the lifts.

"Fine, but personally prefer Plagne Soleil"

Foxie, Staffordshire

The apartments themselves are fine, we’ve been in bigger but overall ours was ok. Reception area was excellent, though our particular apartment was a hell of a long way from it – as far away as you could get. It made reception an effort to reach with the whole place being set on a slope. The location for skiing in was ok, but coming back was difficult as it was a fair old trek to get to the slopes – not a long distance but a fair uphill walk in ski boots. We’ve previously stayed in the Sun Valley and Granges du Soleil apartments which actually are ski in and ski out, making everything so much easier. These apartments are in Plagne Village. We usually stay in Plagne Soleil and prefer it as we know the slopes, bars and restaurants there. I would recommend checking out where to get equipment from, as the equipment we booked together with this apartment was in Plagne Central, which was a trek to reach (especially when you’re carrying all of your stuff). When we’ve stayed in apartments in Soleil, equipment hire has always been from shops attached to the hotels or in the main square, which makes things a lot easier.

We really enjoyed our holiday. It was everything we hoped for. The location is amazing, fantastic. The views were stunning. The Residence Aspen was brilliant. Freshly delivered breakfast from the local bakery every day. Swimming pool and sauna. Only downfall was we found the apartment heating slightly inefficient,we were also a bit confused as to the times we could access the sauna and needed to complete a huge inventory for items in the rooms. Apart from these minor matters we couldn't fault anything. Highly recommended!!!

We had a lovely week away, the apartment was absolutely fine. Getting to the slopes was easy and shopping for food wasn’t a problem. Everyone was happy with the sleeping arrangements. The only thing that caused a massive panic was the cleaning at the end of the week as we had to leave a 300 euro deposit. Our friends who left at 4 in the morning were very concerned about the check, and we were leaving at 8, which was the same time reception opened (managed to get it checked just in time before we leaved!).
