This package holiday to Les Clarines Apartments in Les Menuires, France departs Saturday 7th January 2023, for a 7 night stay on a "self catering" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. Together with Saint Martin De Belleville and Val Thorens, Les Menuires (say it Lay-Men-Weer) is part of the Vallée des Belleville and is the cheapest base for skiing in the 3 Valleys. This purpose-built resort is more focussed on the practical than the aesthetic. Le Menuires is split into five villages - Preyerand, La Croisette, Les Fontanettes, Reberty and Les Bruyères, all linked by walking paths, ski runs, shuttle buses and lifts. Les Bruyères or Reberty have the sloping roofs and wood-cladding the Al...
The resort has aimed to provide a wide variety for all abilities – and the proof is in the pudding! The opportunities are outstanding for skiers and snowboarders, but you would expect no less considering it is a part of the world's largest ski area. Novices will find five free lifts either end of the resort for getting to grips on gentle little green runs and longer greens such as La Violette at the top of the gondola from La Croisette. With a healthy mix of reds and blue runs covering the vast majori...
End a day of skiing on the large sun terrace in L'Oisans and sit down in the sunshine with a jug of beer. Kick back with a cocktail or shoot some pool in the cosy Piano Bar Le Kube. Sports games can be watched on the TVs at Café Snack. If you ski over to Val Thorens be sure to go for some drinks at the famous Folie Douce. Those looking for some late-night action have 2 night clubs to choose between; Le New Pop in La Croisette or Le Liberty in Les Bruyères - an intimate underground bar with seats fashioned like...

"Absolutely perfect if you’re a family & happy to self cater"

Mrs Lane, St Albans
4/ out of 5
The apartments were good, we had everything we needed in ours. I’ve stayed in ski in, ski out chalets as well as fantastic (and not so fantastic) hotels but for our first family ski holiday, Les Clarines was lovely. We upgraded to a 2 room for three of us and it was really nice to have separate bedrooms, I’d definitely recommend to do this if you can afford it. We slept really well because they’ve got shutters on the windows which made the rooms completely black. The kitchen wasn’t massive but it suited us fine. Good things were that you have access to an indoor pool (which my little boy loved) and there’s a little gym and a spa which was really nice. The boot room was a really good size, probably because we had a bigger apartment. It was heated which was nice. We found all of the staff really helpful for the week we were there. If you’re walking up to the ski school, it is a bit of a walk (if you’re all good skiers, you can just slide down to the lift which is fine). The Clarines Apartments are very close to a little supermarket (about a 2 minute walk) and there was also a bread service where you could order bread and croissants etc to be delivered to your apartment.
