Overview - hotel description - Hotel Österreichischerhof description

There's something a bit special about the Österreichischerhof – not surprising given that it's one of the Gastein Valley's most popular hotels. It's run by Felix and his wife Leda, who really are wonderful hosts, and have invested a lot of time and attention into every detail to ensure your stay is a memorable one. And this is all supported by a great team both front of house and behind the scenes.

The Österreichischerhof is jam-packed with Austrian tradition and style, but with a modern and fresh finish, the hotel is made up of three buildings all connected by underground walkway. The rooms are comfortable and bright, and excellent value for such a central location. Food is also high on the agenda here – expect carefully created dishes combining influences from the local Salzburger region, right across Europe and beyond.

The excellent Celtic Spa is a definite plus point here. Try out the range of saunas and steam roooms, the soothing 32°C thermal swimming pool or a wide range of massage and treatments in the Celtic Vital. And just in case that isn't enough spa for you, the hotel is also connected to the resort's stunning Alpentherme Spa complex – and you get free entry included with your stay here.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.

This stunning location is considered somewhat of a “secret resort” and locals describe it as the “hidden gem” of Austria. Bad Hofgastein is a beautiful market town and world-renowned spa destination in one of Austria’s largest and highest ski areas with a tight-knit winter sports and spa community. The resort itself is a traditional, chocolate-box Austrian town that is perfect for a peaceful and relaxing ski break. Visitors find it charmingly welcoming and the historic décor of the area is very easy to f...
The skiing is considered world class - as the largest resort in The Gastein Valley, with access to four other ski resorts, you’ll find hugely varied terrain here. There are slopes to suit everyone and over the course of your ski break there will be no need to ski the same slope twice! The runs range from gentle slopes for lower level intermediates to very challenging descents that will get even the most seasoned skier excited. There is an efficient and modern lift system and the icing on the cake is access to t...
While the après here is fairly quiet compared to other “party resorts” it’s considered the best town in the Gastein Valley for nightlife. Piccolo is a popular après ski bar based in the centre of town – after braving a few tequilas you’ll spend all night dancing on tables to retro classics. If dancing on tables sounds a bit energetic after a day on the slopes, Kamunbar is perfect for a more relaxed evening enjoying a drink accompanied by live music. Head to Vision for the ultimate night out that’ll leave...
