Overview - hotel description - Hotel Bellevue - Canazei description

Hotel Bellevue is in a superb location in Canazei, where fantastic skiing, great après, shops and restaurants are all right on your doorstep. It’s in the pretty historic centre, about 300 metres or so to the main Belvedere gondola that links up to the runs of the Val di Fassa and the Sellaronda circuit. When the conditions are right you can ski pretty much all the way back to the hotel on the Del Bosco red run. Otherwise, if you don’t fancy the walk the resort bus and land train stop just outside the hotel and run to and from the lift (payable locally).

The hotel's simple and traditional with a typical alpine décor, like wooden paneling and furniture with patterned fabrics. The rooms have a similar feel. Most are quite small but feel cosy and have all you need for a comfortable stay. They all have balconies, so you can pop out in the mornings, take in the fresh mountain air and check out the ski conditions. There's a small spa area with a sauna, whirlpool and steam bath which are perfect for easing the muscles at the end of the day.

Canazei is the place to be for great live music and après, with lots of bars to choose from. You don't have to venture far though as the hotel’s very own Taverna Espanola après bar has a great happy hour between 4-5pm. We couldn’t resist the free home-made cakes they serve down here.

One of the larger resorts in the Fassa area, Canazei has maintained is traditional alpine charm whilst being kitted out with all the modern facilities that make a ski holiday so easy. This is the ideal place to ski the famously beautiful Sella Ronda circuit, which is skiable in a day. Some of the descents are quite difficult, so the circuit is probably best avoided by beginners, but experienced skiers will have an absolute whale of a time. You can choose to take the orange route clockwise or the green route anti-clockwise – you’ll need the Dolomiti Superski pass and it’s best to get up early and set off before 10am so you can fit in a couple of mountain hut breaks and ski back before the l...

"Great hotel and food - especially for groups"

Excellent holiday – the hotel is central so you can walk to the pubs, supermarket and shops, it’s quite an easy downhill five minute walk to the ski lift and they also have a lovely little train that stops outside the hotel, collects you and takes you to the lift. You could also ski back there, definitely if you’re an intermediate. It’s a standard Italian hotel, with very friendly staff. There are ski lockers at the basement of the hotel and our room was clean and tidy, quite small but you’re hardly in it so it doesn’t matter. They did a fantastic buffet with a massive range of entrees including salads, meats and loads for vegetarians like pastries etc. They always gave you a menu for the main meal the day before so you can choose what you have and they also did a buffet for dessert – it was really nice to have so much choice as usually you get what you’re given. It had a happy hour and a little disco which was good fun. The hotel definitely catered to groups, there was a large group of Russians while we were here, and there were a lot of couples staying here too.
