Location of Chalet Iceberg in Tignes

Explore the 300km of pistes in the Tignes-Val D’Isère ski domain from close to the chalet. It takes 2 minutes to walk to the Chardonnet button lift from Chalet Iceberg where you can most easily access the Palafour part of the ski area and you can see the famous Aiguille Percée (the ‘eye of the needle’ rock formation). Alternatively from there, ski right to Lavachey and Les Boisses or left to Val Claret and the Grande Motte glacier. Both ways lead to Val D’Isère if that’s where you wish to go.

Equally you have a bus stop just 1 minute down the hill from Chalet Iceberg which takes you both ways too, or gets you back to the chalet easily when your legs are suffering!

Chalet Iceberg is situated in Tignes Le Lac where most chalet accommodation is located. There are multiple restaurants, cafés, shops and supermarkets all a short walk away. The bus stop can whisk you quickly to Lavachey or Val Claret for après-ski too.

There is a leisure centre in Le Lac (free access with a 6 day lift pass), a luge and many other attractions.

Tignes (pronounced 'Teens' by Brits and 'Teenya' by the French) is one half of the vast ‘Tignes-Val d'Isere’ ski area, one of the biggest linked domains in France. High-altitude terrain and Grande Motte glacier skiing ensure the resort both opens earlier in the ski season and also closes later than most resorts, and we’ve even seen lifts running for stints of summer skiing. Split into 5 purpose-built villages with distinct characters, it's well linked by pistes, lifts and free buses. Tignes Le Lac (aka Tignes...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...

"Hosts were fabulous! "

Anita

Accommodation is absolutely perfect, beautiful views . But we struggle with the size of the room. Could not stand up in half of the room. My husband is 6 foot 2 and really struggle with the ceiling height. Storage is not great is the room luckily, we had a spare room to use as storage space. Access up the spiral staircase is creaky and wobbly. Beds very comfortable. Non-natural ventilation in the rooms, only internal windows that open Food was amazing, the host were very good, helpful and informative. Great location for us, short walk to centre of town for the youngsters. The lifts were also a very short walk away. Be careful you can’t stand up in the showers if over 5ft 6 in the rooms upstairs.
