Overview - chalet description - Chalet Hotel Les Grangettes description

This Chalet Hotel is perfectly located just across the street from the main Chaudanne ski lifts and ski school meeting point, with the atmospheric heart of Méribel’s main centre right on hand. The Grangettes’ ground floor comprises a reception and a comfortable lounge and separate Savoyard style dining room. There is a further small lounge with TV/DVD on the first floor.

The Chalet Hotel, including both the bar and restaurant is now managed by European Pubs, a company with 15 years’ experience in the ski hospitality industry and successfully operating restaurants and bars across the French Alps. The old Méribar has been re-branded as Jacks Après Ski Bar, a well-known name offering a fun and entertaining experience! Après ski with live music will run until 7:30-8pm, when Evo Kitchen will take over to serve delicious restaurant evening meals. There is a brand new terrace to sit and enjoy the village atmosphere and food is served throughout the day.

For Grangettes guests, evening meals are taken in the hotel dining room and there is the usual staff day off midweek when just a continental breakfast is provided. You can also swap your evening meal for a 20 Euro credit to spend in the Evo Kitchen restaurant which must be used on the same day of the swap.

On the staff day off you are freeto try out a local restaurant and the hotel reception will be able to help you book a table at Evo Kitchen for you if desire.

This package holiday to Chalet Hotel Les Grangettes in Meribel & Mottaret, France departs Tuesday 14th December 2021, for a 7 night stay on a "catered chalet" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

3 Valleys ski area Excellent ski schools Lively après ski

Meribel has a special place in many Brit's hearts – not simply because it’s right in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

Meribel's location is tricky to beat, slap bang in the centre of the mammoth Three Valleys ski area. British made, and largely Brit run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a homely atmosphere in a good looking resort with more than enough pistes for a week (or three). It's made up of a huddle of gorgeous hamlets, built in traditional wood and stone and surrounded by thick woodland. The main area is Meribel Centre (usually known just as Meribel). A traditional alpine village with choc-box chale...
Meribel is one of the best ski resorts to learn in. There are three beginner areas known as 'Ski Facile' (easy ski) plus great green pistes to practise on including Le Foret and Altiport. Both runs are carefully planned out so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings. If you're skiing with children, there are fantastic ski schools and child-orientated areas, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees at the 'Pistes des Animaux' where children can learn about local wildlife as they e...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes can be as varied as the day spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It's said that you haven't experienced après ski here (or anywhere for that matter) until you've sampled toffee vodka in Le Rond Point, which is easily one of the most famous après ski bars in the world - complete with a slide down to the toilets! Meribel's rightly famous for its nightl...

"Perfect location, lovely staff, just needs some money spent on it"

Anon, Glasgow
4/ out of 5
The chalet hotel was OK, it wasn’t brilliant. I’d say the accommodation was 2/3 star at a push, but then I knew it wasn’t 5 star when I booked it and it was priced accordingly. The rooms were tired and the beds were very worn out. I complained about my mattress which felt like it had been slept on for the past 20 years but the hotel was full so they couldn’t do anything about it. My mates bed was the same. I think if the mattress had been OK I could have overlooked the old carpet. The dining room was quite cramped and noisy. They definitely need to spend a bit of money and tidy it up, because other than these things the place is excellent. The food was tasty, the staff were really nice and you couldn’t ask for a better location – you could basically hit a golf ball to the main lift area.

"Great position, spoiled by loud family"

Position-wise, the chalet was great, only about 2 minutes to the nearest lift and confident skiers could ski back. Excluding one big family who stayed here the same week as us, the chalet was good, but the amount of noise this family made was horrendous! They placed people with kids in the rooms near the games area and we didn’t mind noise until 11 but every night until 2am this big family group were drinking, dancing and being really loud. We weren’t the only people who made a complaint to the manager but they said nothing could be done about it.
