Chalet Ferme 1779 Summary

Located in the center of Saint Martin de Belleville in the heart of the historic old village, this former farmhouse dating from 1779 was completely renovated by a renowned architect and decorator in 2018. It boasts generous floor areas, including a very large main room, and unobstructed views over the Belleville valley. The property thus combines the charms of Savoyard tradition with today's comfort and design.

Ferme 1779 has retained some of the characteristics of traditional Savoyard living, with its vaulted barns, stone walls, spacious attic space and rare timber frame. Spread over 3 levels, it can now accommodate 10 adults and 5 children, thanks to its 5 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and a large vaulted dormitory. The vast living room (120 M2) occupies the former barn, under the cover of a superb traditional roof structure.

Reception room, TV lounge, dining area and open kitchen share the open plan, arranged around a magnificent central fireplace. The décor combines traditional materials - such as larch and slate - with contemporary ones - Corian, steel and glass - to strike a balance between tradition and modernity.

The ultra-design furniture includes pieces by leading French, Scandinavian and Italian designers such as Knoll, Charlotte Periand and Poulsen...

The ground floor, with its vaulted ceilings typical of former stables, houses a relaxation area featuring a sauna, a relaxation room and an outdoor Nordic bath.

From Ferme 1779, a charming pedestrian alley leads in 3 minutes to the village square, with its Baroque church, varied shops and restaurants. From the square, the Village ski lift takes you directly to the wide-open spaces of the 3 Vallées. Skiing the world's largest ski area, and taking refuge in the evening in the cocoon of Ferme 1779, sounds like the secret of happiness!

If you’re looking for serious charm, you’ll find St. Martin is the easily most quaint, idyllic and traditionally French resort in the 3 Valleys which has upheld the character of its history dating back to as early as the sixteenth century. The pretty old parish church in the centre and seventeenth century Notre Dame de la Vie sanctuary on the outskirts are striking monuments to the village’s heritage and instead of bulky hotels you’ll find chalets converted from old farm buildings. This picturesque litt...
As part of the largest ski resort in the world, naturally the skiing potential is ginormous (and the views are stunning too). There’s a nursery area at the foot of the village which features a free lift for the benefit of first timers. Ski lessons with English-speaking instructors are available to book for ages 3 years and up. Beginners can then try out the wide blue runs above the village like the ‘Biolley’ down from the first gondola. Intermediates are beyond spoilt for choice here, with a humongous ...
Kick off après in Le Dahlia at the bottom of the lifts with a great choice of beverages, from beers to mulled wine - they also screen international sports games. L'Eterlou at the foot of the lifts and The Joker Bar in the centre are good alternatives for a cheeky drink or two at happy hour. Looking for a classy way to relax? Warm up by the fire in the modern Porquoi Pas and try a bottle from their wine cellar. The star attraction of the restaurants here is the two Michelin starred La Bouitte where you can en...
