Chalet Camille Summary

Chalet Camille is a newly refurbished, free-standing chalet that could not be better located in Le Lavachet, just 30m from the piste with the Paquis and Chaudanne chairlifts in front of the chalet. The Chalet Isabelle is situated next door.

Together with the owner, we invested in its complete internal refurbishment in the summer of 2023. It is now regarded as one of guests favourite properties, where we welcome back returning guests each year. For those that already know Chalet Camille, the sleeping capacity has been reduced to just 14 guests, allowing more space for the lounge area and for the chalet staff to live-in.

Everything from the bedrooms and bathrooms to the kitchen and sofas in the lounge are brand new. Plus there is a wellness suite containing a hot-tub and a sauna. The balconies offer a stunning view, overlooking the lifts and mountains and we are sure that Chalet Camille will continue to be a huge hit with this winter’s guests.

Tignes (pronounced 'Teens' by Brits and 'Teenya' by the French) is one half of the vast ‘Tignes-Val d'Isere’ ski area, one of the biggest linked domains in France. High-altitude terrain and Grande Motte glacier skiing ensure the resort both opens earlier in the ski season and also closes later than most resorts, and we’ve even seen lifts running for stints of summer skiing. Split into 5 purpose-built villages with distinct characters, it's well linked by pistes, lifts and free buses. Tignes Le Lac (aka Tignes...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...

" Very helpful staff"

The Chalet staff were very nice, really enjoyed our host who looked after us and recommended and helped book the restaurant on the staffs night off. They fed us well, the food was just what you wanted after a days skiing and the wine was pleasant. A nice chalet in a great location. Very easy access to the slopes as close to ski in ski out as you can get. You start not in the centre of Tignes but it normally meant there were never any queues in the morning. Top Tip: We are members of the ski club of Great Britain and made the most of this contacting the ski rep for Tignes, skiing with the group most days and even going touring for the day.

The chalet was fantastic. So much so that we are looking to book it again for next year! Rooms were great, staff were great, location was great. Genuinely very happy about that trip .The food was great and the staff were fantastic. There was a really good choice of wine with dinner as well. The location is fantastic. The ski locker is up one flight of stairs and you can walk up there in your socks and then it’s 20m to the slope and then you have 2 chairlifts to choose from. Get to the Folie Douce in Val d' Isere, it’s lovely. Also the run from the top of Bellevarde down to La Daille in Val D’Isere. Make sure you do it early before it gets too busy and chopped up later on.

"Great food and location"

Not bad at all, the location is excellent for access to the centre and the likes of lifts were just behind. There’s a bus stop just up the street which was excellent and I didn’t have much trouble getting around at all. The meals were smashing, I can’t complain at all about the food the folk and chalet staff served. My only criticisms are a few small things, the bedroom doors had locks but no keys, and with no safe you couldn’t leave things securely. The fire didn’t work upstairs due to the chimney being blocked by snow, but I guess that’s one of those things. Apart from that there aren’t many negatives. The staff were excellent, always helpful and attentive.

"Absolutely brilliant"

I can honestly say my son and I had a brilliant week – even from when we'd just arrived at the airport and were picked up for transfers, the whole process was seamless! The coach on the transfer was half empty so we could stretch out, and when we arrived at the chalet there was food ready and waiting. The whole stay was really, really good and we enjoyed being there. Food-wise, they did different meats every day (chicken, fish, ham), plus a vegetarian choice if you so desire it. Then you have petit fours, starters and pudding either side of it. That’s all after the cake and coffee they serve when you come in from skiing, which is one of the reasons we like staying in a chalet so much. It was nice to be in a smaller group where we could get to know other folk staying there and chill together. We shared a twin room - the bedroom wasn’t big to be honest, but there was plenty of room for us to get up and ready in the morning so it was fine. At one point we skied to the door because there was snow on the road, but generally you could literally ski to within 100m of the door, and if you didn’t want to do the journey over on skis, the bus would drop you right outside. In all a good week, and we got a great deal from SNO – it was absolutely fantastic in terms of what we paid.
