Overview: chalet description: Chalet Aflabim description

Chalet Aflabim is an incredible stand-alone chalet close to the center Gstaad, sleeping 14 people. Chic and luxurious, the interior fuses traditional alpine features with clean lines and contemporary furnishings creating a one of a kind alpine residence.

You enter the chalet through a large private garage; elegant and sophisticated, it sets the tone for the whole property. On this floor, there is also a storeroom and a large ski room with plenty of space for all your equipment.

A long staircase leads up to the hallway of the ground floor, where reptile skin-clad closets invite you to hang your coat. The ground floor is the main sleeping floor where you will find two double bedrooms, a twin bedroom and a staff bedroom sleeping two. The two double bedrooms share a bathroom with separate shower and have access to the wonderful garden from the terrace. The twin room has a private bathroom, whilst there is an additional guest bath and shower room positioned near the staff double bedroom.

The ground floor also features an entertainment room, styled with a large sofa, TV, and its own kitchen. The adjustable metal counter moves to reveal a stove and sink, thus making it a very discreet cooking area. A lovely, picturesque garden can be accessed from a number of rooms on this floor. Its rich vegetation, along with the chalet’s elevated position above the road, ensures maximum privacy and to perfect opportunity to relax and unwind in peace.

Stairs lead to the main kitchen and living areas. It is this floor where you will find the main entrance to the chalet, which opens into a large hallway which is generously decorated with contemporary art. A guest toilet can be found here as well. The sunken living room has ample seating centered around a large coffee table and the wonderful open fireplace.

The formal dining table seats 8, but can be extended to accommodate 12 people. In the kitchen, you will find another smaller table which fits 6 people on built-in bench-style seating, perfect for children and quick bites. Doors open from the living room out to the balcony, where a further table is located for sunny days.

Also on this floor are two double bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms, whilst moving up to the top floor, there are a further two double bedrooms sharing a bathroom. Access to the ski room is from the garage which has one underground parking space.

In Switzerland’s German speaking Saanenland region, Gstaad has the kind of reputation in the skiing world that St Tropez has in summer. And it’s the local international schools we have to thank for it. Institute Le Rosey set up shop here in 1917 and as students, teachers and their families raved about the Gstaad good life, the village’s reputation as a luxurious destination grew and grew. Stars of Hollywood’s golden age graced its grand hotels and ritzy bars - Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Grace Kelly – a...
The ski area is huge and varied, featuring Bernese Oberland’s only glacier, Glacier 3000 as well as the Rinderberg, Lengebrand, Saanerslochgrat, Hornberg and Horneggli mountains. Beginners can access easy blues from the Ruttli and Zuckerli lifts at the end of Gstaad village. More easy runs are served by the Gstaad – Eggli lift, streaming down into Saanen. Intermediates should be able to handle the area’s longest run from the top of Mt. La Videmanette, all the way down into Rougemont. Blue and red ru...
As you’d expect of a resort of Gstaad’s calibre, there are some fabulous restaurants to dine in. The Alpina Gstaad and Restaurant Chesery have a Michelin star and 18 Gault&Millau points each, and more G&M points are scattered around the resort’s remaining eateries. We like Berghaus Wispile for 360° views of the surroundings and Saagli Stubli for fondues and all things cheesy. For DIY fondues, there are fondue huts and giant fondue pots scattered around the region to form Fondueland – pick up a rucksack from...
