December ski holidays FAQ:

This December indulge in the stylish resort of Verbier, home to some of the best on and off-piste skiing and stunning 360-degree views. Yes, Verbier may be pricey, but the fantastic skiing and overall experience will be unforgettable. The terrain is best suited to skiers looking to test their limits in the largest ski area in Switzerland, the 4 Valleys. Val Thorens, Tignes and Cervinia are also great options for early season skiing in December due to their high, snow-sure ski areas.

Look out for these events on your ski holiday in December:

  • Christmas Markets in many resorts in Europe. Kitzbühel, Zell am See, Cortina, Seefeld and Mayrhofen are among the best.
  • Rise Festival in Les Deux Alpes, France.
  • FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup runs in several resorts across the world from November to March, including Levi, Beaver Creek, Val d’Isere, Alta Badia, Adelboden, Wengen, Schladming, Chamonix and Garmisch.
  • Spengler Cup ice hockey tournament in Davos, Switzerland.

Choose a high-altitude ski resort for the best snow conditions if you are planning on skiing in the first couple of weeks in December. By Christmas and New Year, the snow should be good enough for great skiing conditions in most of the main ski resorts in Europe. Head to Val Thorens, Tignes, Cervinia, Verbier or Ischgl for the best snow in December.
