Vegetarian & vegan ski holidays

Being a Vegetarian and not eating any meat, or a Vegan and not eating any animal products is now a much more common diet plan to follow. There are plenty more ski holiday options that can cater to this than there used to be. If you opt for a self-catering holiday, you can shop the local produce and cook your own meals or eat out in resort restaurants. Most menus will specify what is suitable for vegetarians and vegans but do always check with your waiter on how your food is being prepared.

A great option would be to go for a catered chalet where the chalet hosts can adapt their menus for the week and easily cater to your dietary requests. It is essential that you let the chalet know in advance as the in-resort team will need to arrange a separate shopping order. There can sometimes be a small additional fee for Vegan menus as several ingredients are harder to get hold of up a mountain. Alternatively, most ski hotels can offer a vegetarian menu, and some can cater to vegans. It is imperative that you always check with the hotel before booking. We can do this for you just give our sales team a call and be more than happy to help.

Top tips for Vegetarian & vegans on ski holidays

We know it can be tricky when dietary plans come in to play so we have created a list of top tips for vegetarians & vegans on ski holidays:

  • If you opt to go for a self-catering holiday, we highly recommend looking at HUSKI meal delivery service who deliver premium oven-ready meals to resorts across the French Alps. They can cater for most dietaries and offer a great selection of vegetarian and vegan options.
  • A lot of restaurant menus will have been translated quite poorly into English so it is sometimes best to ask to see the menu in the local language and use a translation app on your phone to ensure you know exactly what you are ordering!
  • It is always best to speak to your waiter whilst in the restaurant and highlight exactly what it is you cannot eat, you will find that a lot of restaurants will happily adapt dishes to meet your requirements.
  • Pizza is widely available in most resorts which is great for a vegetarian option.
  • We would recommend brining along some of your own provisions just in case you do get caught out somewhere that cannot provide you a meal.
  • Speak with your hotel staff or chalet host, the locals really do know the best spots in town and will always be more than happy to help with reservations.
