Best Time To Visit St. Kitts & Nevis

The best time to visit St Kitts and Nevis is between March and April. The weather is glorious, with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures, and travelling during this time means you will be avoiding hurricane season that begins in July through to November. While St Kitts and Nevis is a tropical island and has rainy spells all through the year, March sees the least amount of rain.

Travelling during the peak season, December to February will be busier, but it is also one of the best times to visit – with high temperatures of 28°C. If you decide to travel outside of peak season, between May and June, you will see lower prices and be able to grab the best deals, but since this is nearing the wet season, there is a higher chance of unpredictable, and wet weather.

St Kitts & Nevis sees at least 8 hours of sunshine every day throughout the year and has a warm, humid climate all year round. The dry season is slightly cooler and has little rainfall from December to April. The weather is then hot, humid, and rainy from mid-June to mid-November. Average temperatures can reach anywhere between 26 and 30°C during the dry season (Dec-April), while some of the hotter months in the wet season can reach 31°C. The rainfall in the wet seasons are usually light downpours that don’t last very long, but there can be rain during the dry season due to the tropical climate, and so you should always be prepared.

Low season in St. Kitts & Nevis

Low season in St Kitts is from July to November, as this period is deemed as hurricane season and is also the wet season. Though hurricanes are quite rare, and not all as disastrous, these conditions are not ideal for a relaxing beach holiday. However; if you are looking for a cheaper holiday, this can be a great time to travel as it is usually a lot quieter on the islands with fewer visitors.

St Kitts & Nevis is a beautiful Caribbean destination, with glorious, tropical vegetation, beautiful beaches, and fun water activities, it has something for everyone. December through to May have the best weather, where it is drier and there is less chance of rainfall while still boasting high temperatures. St Kitts is a great holiday destination for relaxing on the beach, water activities, snorkelling and sightseeing.

If you want to relax on your holiday and soak up the sun on one of the popular beaches with soft sand and warm waters, the best time to travel to St Kitts & Nevis to do so would be from December to April. During these months, there is very little rainfall, perfect for your beach holiday. March and April see the highest possible temperatures, at 29°C and 30°C. December through to February is slightly cooler but have an average of at least 25°C.

December through to April has the ideal sea conditions for snorkelling and scuba-diving. While the weather is similar all year round, it is best to ahead out before hurricane season that begins in July as this can make the waters slightly choppier and not the best conditions, especially for those who are not as adverse in snorkelling or scuba-diving.

The ideal time for surfing, kitesurfing and other watersports is ideally through December to April, however, you can still take part in these activities in May, June, and the beginning of July. Do expect wilder waves as May-July is nearer the start of the wet season.

There are two incredible providers for all the water sports activities you could imagine. They are Beach Addiction, which is located on Frigate Bay and has multiple instructors who love being out on the sea and can help you master the skill of surfing, kitesurfing, sailing and many others. There is also St Kitts Water Sports which is located on Carambola Beach Club, in St Kitt’s capital, Basseterre. Both providers offer a wide range of activities for everyone, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned surfer.

The best time to sightsee, explore the island and participate in outdoor activities is from March through to June, as the weather is hotter with an average of 28°C and there is very little rainfall over these months.

St. Kitts & Nevis in January

As it is in peak season, January sees very little rain throughout the month and maintains warm temperatures with an average of 25°C. Warm, calm waters and light or very little rainfall mean it is the ideal time to go snorkelling or scuba diving.

It is also ideal weather conditions for golfing, and this tropical island with its sandy beaches, palm trees and glorious weather is the perfect spot for this laid-back sport. You can head to the Royal St Kitts Golf Club in Frigate Bay, the Four Seasons Golf Course in Nevis, or the Irie Fields Golf Club at Kittitian Hill.

Slightly cooler, with an average of 23°C, February is one of the driest months of the year. It is an ideal time for water activities such as snorkelling and surfing, as well as exploring the island. South Friars Bay is a great spot for those looking to get into snorkelling, with shallow waters and a plethora of fish to spot.

April sees about 9 hours of sunshine every day and high temperatures up to 30°C. Easter is a popular holiday in St Kitts and Nevis. On Good Friday, it is Kittitian tradition to fly kites, mainly on Frigate Bay Lawn and there are even prizes to be one such as the best homemade kite.

There is also a Spice Festival that takes place in April and is held at the renowned Spice Mill Restaurant at Cockleshell Beach. This is an annual event that blends St Kitts's favourite flavours to create extraordinary food.
