By far the most popular skiing airport in Europe and probably the world, Geneva has flights arriving for both independant and package ski holidays to the best resorts in Europe. The transfers to Chamonix and Flaine are shortest at barely an hour and longer transfer times to the top resorts in the Three Valleys and Espace Killy are mitigated by the fact that, being so popular, they run more often. What you add in driving time to the likes of Meribel, Val d'Isere, Courchevel, Tignes and Val Thorens, you often make up by getting on your transfer straight off the flight.

Much more centrally located in the middle of the key French ski areas, Chambery has often the shortest transfer times but the trade-off can sometimes be a slightly premium in the package holiday price and sometimes a very crowded airport during peak weeks, when savvy families skiing with children choose this airport to minimise transfer times with kids.

Flying into Chambery makes for a shorter transfer than Geneva on ski holiday to the top resorts of Val d'Isere and Meribel etc.

South of Geneva and Chambery, Grenoble Airport is surrounded by the Belledone, Vercors and Chartreuse mountains. Also known as Alpes–Isère, the airport has tripled its traffic volume since it expanded in 2003.

Served by nine UK airports and regular charter flights, Grenoble is the nearest airport to the ski resorts of Alpe d'Huez, Les Deux Alpes, Chamrousse and Valloire. The airport is also used for access to Italian resorts positioned close to the French border, like Bardonecchia.
