SNO-man says

Park City itself has a vast list of activities available through the season, as well as a schedule of big events that include concerts, snow sculpture contests and the annual Sundance Film Festival in late January each year when more than 100 movies are shown. Some of the more unusual opportunities include bobsled rides and ski jumping at the nearby Utah Winter Sports Park, a tour 1500 feet down in the operational Park City Silver Mine or the surreal experience of scuba diving in a mineral-rich warm-water crater! Utah's only historic train operates through the winter also so that you can journey over the snow fields of the Heber Valley. All this makes sleigh rides, dog sled rides, snowmobiling, ice skating, hot air ballooning, winter fly fishing or a nature tour seem rather pedestrian. Indoors there are plenty of tennis and squash clubs as well as spas and massage professionals to visit.

"The Canyons" by any other name

The American resort is also known as The Canyons and has common misspellings:

The direction which the various The Canyons slopes face can make or break your ski holiday. To guarantee good snow conditions, choose a resort with piste which face the right way for the time of year you're travelling.

- In the coldest winter months of January and February pick a resort with sunny south facing slopes, so your days on the snow doesn't feel like a polar expedition. Conversely, in the warmest spring skiing months of March and especially April, a resort with cool and shady north facing trails will ensure you're not riding on slush, but benefitting from best late season snow. The best destinations have areas which face in all directions so that you're guaranteed greating conditions whatever the weather. The Canyons has slopes facing N S.

The Canyons Shopping

The Canyons shopping - fashion boutiques, outdoor gear and food shops

To date, the only shops at The Canyons are ski and 'boarding stores, although that's due to change when The Village grows. However, shopaholics need not be discouraged, with over 100 stores locally and the big city shopping of Salt Lake half an hour away there's plenty of choice. There are around 20 sports and rental stores, a dozen on the mountain, the rest in town. Opportunities, as with the other top US resorts, range from local crafts, through sweatshirt stores and chain outlets to designer boutiques and art galleries.
