If you’ve only a few precious days to devote to the mountains, you might as well make it one of the world’s greatest resorts. With a history of skiing all year round, you’ve an excellent chance of enjoying quality snow conditions throughout your time away.

Sion Airport (SIR) is the closest to Zermatt at just an hour’s drive away, though most packages fly into Geneva Airport (GVA), from which it takes around 2h40 to get here. The other option is Milan Malpensa (MXP), which is a similar distance to Geneva.

If your chalet or hotel doesn’t include all meals, it’s worth looking up what restaurants you fancy trying and booking tables in advance – gourmet dining is huge here, with more Michelin stars and Gault&Millau points you can shake a napkin at. Ski passes and equipment hire can be arranged before you arrive too, making sure you can get straight out to explore these world-class slopes.
