Miami holidays

A hard-to-beat destination with bustling cities, quirky hotels and miles of tranquil seas (no exaggeration), with something unique for everyone. The pristine shores of South Beach are home to distinct art decors, neon lights and glamorous cocktail bars under shaded awnings. However, if you're looking for a peaceful getaway, North Beach is a winning destination, set in a turquoise bay away from the crowds that gather in South Beach. Take to the lush green trails of Everglade or head down Lincoln Road to conquer a Beverly Hills shopping centre. Discover Miami by booking with SNO, where life is better by the sea.

Miami is a magnet for nightlife enthusiasts, boasting VIP clubs, cocktail bars, and vibrant dance scenes that make it a top global destination once the sun goes down.

Sign up for a salsa class in Little Havana, then get your groove on in Mid Beach which pulses with energy under the moonlight: international DJs spin at LIV in Fontainebleau, while Twist South Beach offers a feel-good LGBTQ nightlife experience. Downtown Miami hosts the 24/7 club E11 Even Miami, perfect for all-night revelry, with plenty of other lively nightclubs, bars and entertainment venues nearby.

Miami caters for all palates. In the mood for smoky spices? No problem. Fancy a cheap meal at McDonald's? There are 51 restaurants to choose from! Fancy a taste of the Caribbean? Absolutely. From juice bars to food trucks, the culinary scene offers a diverse range of delicious cuisines.

Outdoor dining is a must, especially in Miami Beach, where you'll find more than 30 restaurants and bars lining the crescent-shaped harbours and white sandy beaches. Indulge in a freshly made Cuban sandwich, explore the lively Wynwood and Miami Design districts for sumptuous alfresco dining, or enjoy a steak on the terrace of Smith & Wolensky steakhouse while watching the boats sail by.

From high-end shops and chic boutiques to budget shops and Florida's largest shopping malls, this destination offers everything you could want when it comes to shopping!

The Miami Design District, the hub of designer stores such as Cartier, is a living, breathing art gallery, where luxury and art collide, creating a truly dynamic experience. Brickell City Centre is a great location for British favourites such as Zara, Victoria's Secret and Nike.

For a must-see classic, head to South Beach's Lincoln Road, where brightly coloured shopping centres fill the busy streets. In downtown Miami, Bayside Marketplace is the place to go for souvenirs and handicrafts, overlooking a sparkling turquoise bay.

In the mood for a real shopping extravaganza? Visit Aventura Mall, with over 300 shops, a 93ft (28m) high sculptural slide tower and endless dining options to feed weary shoppers, it's Florida's largest mall!

Activities in Miami

Although Miami's abundance of luxury hotels, classic restaurants and picturesque beaches exceeds all our expectations, you'll find that this majestic destination offers a whole range of other activities…

Watersports

Diving in Miami

Water is very much part of Miami's DNA. With its endless turquoise seascapes, this part of the coast offers some incredible dive sites. For fans of the rainbow, dive the Emerald Reef, teeming with schools of young tropical fish, sponges and kaleidoscopic corals. Located at an average depth of twenty feet, it is reputed to be the best snorkelling site in Miami!

For wreck diving, the Half Moon wreck is located offshore, between Virginia Key and Key Biscayne, at a depth of just three metres. Easily accessible to divers and snorkellers, this German yacht was captured by the British during the First World War. After reaching Miami, the ship ran aground in 1930, creating the perfect habitat for dazzling coral and exotic fish.

Surfing in Miami

Famous for bikinis, killer waves and barrels, there's no better surfing destination than Miami.

Perfect for catching your first wave, South Beach offers mellow swells that are ideal for learning the ropes. Plus, the vibrant beach scene adds to the fun. The prime wave season falls between July and November, but even outside these months, it's a great spot to relax on the sand and catch some laid-back waves.

Winds swerve in from the west on Haulover beach, creating perfect weather conditions to surf at low tide. Just be aware that the tides here can be unpredictable.

Juniter Inlet, a small town in Palm Beach County, Florida, offers a range of surf spots from Juno Pier to Jetty. Wild waves average between two and three metres, so you can enjoy decent surf and great views.

Windsurfing & kitesurfing in Miami

With crystal-clear waters and a fresh American breeze, it's hard to resist the urge to go windsurfing. An hour and a half south of Miami, The Florida Keys, a captivating chain of islands stretching south-west from the tip of the Florida peninsula, offer fantastic watersports locations. The best winds fall during the winter season, from November to April, which promises an incredible chance of wild winds and big swells. Summer is not recommended due to the hurricane season in the Caribbean.

Sailing in Miami

While some of the largest all-inclusive resorts on the Miami coast have their own fleet of boats, most of the action takes place in the sailing capital, Coconut Grove. Coconut is the epitome of boating, yachting and sailing, all within walking distance of each other, including the Coral Reef Yacht Club, the U.S. Olympic Sailing Center and more. You can reach this famous yachting centre in 20 minutes by renting a car or taking the Metrorail orange line into the city centre.

Fishing in Miami

Miami is a real paradise for anglers. Thanks to its amazing ecosystems, made up of dynamic coral reefs, warm currents and mangrove-supported soils, Miami's seas are home to an abundance of fish to reel in. Depending on your fishing experience, you can try different types of fishing. Deep-sea fishing involves diving into the deepest waters of the Atlantic Ocean to stalk the big fish, while calm-water fishing allows you to dip your toes into the shallow, crystal-clear waters of the bay while catching your juicy meal. Experienced anglers who fancy a challenge can experience half or full day charter fishing with a professional guide, which usually accommodates up to six anglers. Our favourite sites are South Pointe Park Pier, Newport Fishing Pier, Pelican Harbour Marina and Oleta River State Park.

Canoeing & kayaking in Miami

Oleta River State Park or Crandon Park are the best places to go standup paddleboarding, canoeing or kayaking in Miami. One of our favourite activities is exploring the flat waters of Oleta on North Miami Beach, protected by a jungle of lush mangroves that overlay the sparkling river estuary. If you're lucky that day, you might spot dolphins, manatees or blue herons as you glide by. If you're planning to stay at a large resort or hotel, kayaks are usually available on request.

Land activities

Golf in Miami

If you love golf, you can't miss Deering Bay Yacht during your stay in Miami. This signature golf course, both private and jungle-themed, is a feast for the eyes, nestled amongst South Florida palm trees and wildlife, creating an aesthetically pleasing place to relax.

Further afield, you'll find Turnberry Isle Miami's Soffer Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, with 36 holes and a legendary final hole in the waterfall. A word of advice: we know it's tempting, but avoid cutting the corner over the water on the 9th hole, a straight dive will reward you with a generous green, a velvet landing, and an easy chip for par!

Cycling & mountain biking in Miami

You won't see a mountain in sight, but Miami still offers superb cycle paths and loads of fun things to explore on two wheels! Visit the magnificent Larry & Penny Thompson Park, which covers more than 270 acres and includes a world-famous zoo, shaded paths, hiking trails and a freshwater lake with its own sparkling beach!

Although not exactly secluded, South Pointe Park offers a fantastic cycling experience. Imagine pedalling along palm-fringed paths, with the sparkling ocean on one side and the bustling Miami Beach scene on the other. Head south to the pier for breathtaking ocean views, or north to discover a hidden spot, perfect for watching the boats cruise on Biscayne Bay.

Walking & hiking in Miami

There's more to Miami than beaches and nightlife. In Miami, you can combine long, verdant walks with birdwatching, marsh exploration, animal watching and all sorts of other activities. There are some incredible nature trails to explore here

Crandon Park on Key Biscayne is a nature lover's paradise. Join guided walks from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center and immerse yourself in emerald coconut groves, fascinating sand dunes and intricate mangrove forests. Keep your eyes peeled for nesting sea turtles and an incredible variety of birds - nearly 200 species call this area home.

For a fairytale-like  walk, head to the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, and wander through a world of exotic fruits, bright flowering trees and towering golden palms.
