Best time of year for a last minute holiday to Florida

Although there is a wide range of offers for a holiday to Florida, many coincide with the summer months and school holidays. But be warned, flights and hotels may be cheaper and theme parks quieter, but there's a reason for that. From June to October, Florida is subject to monsoon-like rainstorms and humid conditions that can become very uncomfortable very quickly. In July and August, the state seems overrun with insects. Finally, as September turns into October, there's a good chance you'll be faced with a hurricane that will give you an unexpected adrenaline rush. That said, it's possible to pick up some good bargains during the summer months. If you're prepared for wet and rainy weather, you'll find that theme parks are a lot more fun, as the two-hour queues for a two-minute ride are much shorter. In our opinion, if you can, try to visit Florida between January and May, prices are much lower and theme parks are quieter, while the weather is milder. Be sure to avoid the Easter and school holiday periods in the US, when prices and theme park attendance rise considerably.
