Florida Easter holidays

While it's true that Florida doesn't have any particular Easter traditions, the way it delivers the experience is certainly spectacular. Easter is an ideal time to visit Florida, as the mornings and evenings are delightfully cool and the days are pleasantly warm, without the humidity of the other months. Most families plan their Easter holidays around the parks in Central Florida, and we can't fault that choice.

Easter traditions in Florida

Visit Epcot at Walt Disney World, Orlando, to see spectacular floral displays with up to 30 million flowers on display in every colour imaginable. As you stroll around, expect to see bushes pruned in the likeness of your favourite Disney characters and, if you're lucky, some of them may be hiding a little Easter surprise. For an unforgettable Easter experience, check out the 'Dream Come True Parade' on Easter Sunday at Magic Kingdom. Here, all the popular characters come to life in a show of colour and pageantry, with the special addition of Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny and young girls wearing incredible Easter bonnets. Busch Gardens is the place to go if you want your Easter celebrations to feel more natural, more real than life, and truth be told, things can be a little quieter there than in Orlando. There are plenty of Easter bunnies hiding among the flora and fauna, and egg hunts with prizes are organised five times a day. Our final recommendation for Easter is Discovery Cove, where you'll find warm sandy beaches lined with swaying palm trees and, of course, the chance to swim with dolphins. Even at Easter, visitor numbers are limited to 1,000 a day, so the crowds stay the same, but make sure you book in advance to guarantee your place in 'paradise'.

Best hotels to celebrate Easter in Florida

Make your Easter holiday in Florida one to remember in style at the JW Marriott Orlando. Start Easter Sunday with the kids on an egg-cellent egg hunt, before having a photo opportunity with the real Easter Bunny.

After all the egg-citement, sip well-deserved mimosas and enjoy a tasty traditional Southern brunch of lamb, fresh seafood and more.
