Top places to visit in the Bahamas in August

August is the height of the hurricane season, and while this may mean higher chances or rainstorms, this also means the islands are quieter and you won’t be hard pushed to find a sunny spot on the beach all to yourselves.

Why not take the opportunity to get cultured while taking shelter from the rain by visiting some of the forts in the Bahamas? Fort Charlotte is the biggest fort on the island, covering a mammoth one hundred acres. The breathtaking views over the western end of the harbour, the city and Paradise Island are to die for. Dating back to 1793 and built as a lookout for pirates is Fort Fincastle and its Water Tower. This is the highest point of the island and the views from the top of the Queen’s Staircase are incredible.

For the thrill-seekers among us, journey to Pirate’s Cove on Taino Beach West and give the exhilarating zip line a go. Here you’ll also find some epic inflatables, kayaks, paddleboards, fly boards, jet packs and lots more. They host fun events from bingo to water races.
