Festivals and events in St Lucia in July

While the culminating event of the St Lucia Carnival, the parade, takes place in June, there are still plenty of great events, street parties and music to experience. Experience the ultimate celebration of St Lucia’s Caribbean identity, history and culture at one of the many events taking place throughout the island.

Top places to visit in St Lucia in July

St Lucia’s diversity is what makes it such an appealing tourist destination; put simply, there is just so much to do. If you are a beach lover and simply want to top up on your tan, St Lucia boasts a huge range of idyllic beaches that are often featured on the cover of magazines. Unlike other parts of the Caribbean, all these beaches are open to the public, which means you can find your own slice of secluded Caribbean paradise without having to pay a premium for it. Our two personal favourites are Jalousie beach and Marigot Bay, both of which feature the quintessential characteristics of Caribbean beaches: soft, turquoise waters, creamy sand and utterly breath-taking views.

Yet there is, even more, to experience in St Lucia, such as the St Lucia Hotwire in Soufriere, a zipline with brilliant views of the Pitons. Or you could immerse yourself in St Lucia’s parallel universe, where you can find vibrant coral reefs encrusted with starfish, sea sponges and different strands of colourful seaweed.

What’s the weather like in St Lucia in July?

In June, St Lucia has an average temperature of 27°C, with highs of 31°C and lows of 24°C. The rainy season begins properly in July, so there can be days where there is heavier rainfall, but the predominant forecast is for the sun. July sits in the Caribbean hurricane season, but hurricanes are more likely to occur in August and September. Nonetheless, it is worth being vigilant and checking weather warnings before you travel.

What to pack for a holiday in St Lucia in July

  • Pack light clothing, swimwear and shoes suited to a summer holiday.
  • Comfy, rubbed-soled shoes for excursions and light hikes or hiking boots for longer treks.
  • Sun cream is an integral part of a Caribbean packing list. Ensure that your sun cream is listed as reef-friendly – many commercially sold sun creams contain chemicals like oxybenzone which have been linked to coral bleaching.
  • Sunglasses and a hat.
  • A jumper or cardigan for the cooler evenings.
  • Bring a light raincoat or small umbrella for downpours
  • A smart outfit for the evening.
  • Mosquito repellent.
  • Travel plug adapter.
  • Prescription medicines.
  • Tote bag for shopping and to use as a beach bag.
  • Snorkelling gear if you wish to snorkel from the beach.
  • Camouflage is illegal in St Lucia, so don’t pack your khaki cargo shorts.
