New Year Grenada holidays

Seeing in the New Year on a Grenadian beach illuminated by fireworks could be your New Year’s resolution this January. Average temperatures are in the high twenties, cool trade winds blow away the humidity and you are guaranteed eight hours of sunshine every day. The conditions blend perfectly to create archetypically brilliant Caribbean weather for your activities, whether that be topping up your tan at the beach, snorkelling among beautiful coral reefs or exploring the quaint, cobbled streets of St George’s. Whatever you want from your New Year’s getaway, you can find it right here at SNO.

New Year traditions in Grenada

Grenadians are outgoing and love a party, so if you’re hoping to weave some New Year’s Eve bar-hopping and boogying into your trip to Grenada, you won’t be disappointed. Local bars often host parties which have relaxed, welcoming atmospheres and soon spill out into the streets where you can dance underneath the Caribbean sky. If you’re looking for a bigger party in town which is catered more towards adults, we recommend checking out the Rex Grenadian, Umbrella’s Beach Bar or Port Louis Marina. These bars all feature local DJs, entertainment, great food and drink, and fireworks.

There are also great options for families as well, although these tend to be more focused in resorts rather than in the towns. The resorts still take New Year’s Eve celebrations seriously, and most of the island’s resorts will host their own private beach parties complete with fireworks and champagne. Spice Island Beach Resort hosts a fantastic New Year’s Eve party, with entertainment culminating in firework displays illuminating the starlit sky.

Best places to celebrate New Year in Grenada

Grenada consists of the island of Grenada itself and two smaller islands, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, and there are different New Year’s Events that vary in scale taking place on these three islands. If you’re looking for bigger parties, Grenada is where you want to be, with St George’s hosting a wide range of events varying from fantastic meals to jump-up street parties. Grenada’s main island is also where you will find many of its world-class holiday resorts, such as Sandals Grenada, Spice Island Beach Resort and the Royalton Grenada which all host their own feasts and fiestas complete with complimentary champagne and unbelievable firework displays.

For a relaxed vibe, Carriacou and Petite Martinique also host New Year’s Eve festivities. We recommend checking out the Fountain Wine Bar on Carriacou if you want complimentary rum punch and a fantastic meal.
