Best time of year for a last-minute holiday to Barbados

The beauty of a last-minute holiday to Barbados is that it is a destination where you don’t have to do a great deal of planning. As the island is only 21 miles long, you can leave the itinerary planning for your journey over there or get some tips from the locals when you arrive.

We suggest booking your last-minute getaway to Barbados during the low and shoulder seasons, between June and August, purely because it will be quieter (if you avoid the school holidays), and therefore won’t be necessary to pre-book activities and sightseeing trips in advance due to limited availability. This period falls within the wet season, but more often than not you can bask in the hot sunshine with temperatures of around 30°C.

Best destinations for a last-minute holiday to Barbados

When it comes to last minute trips to Barbados, the availability will depend on the time of year you are travelling and what season your holiday falls in. There are plenty of last-minute deals to be found and we suggest the following destinations:

St Lawrence Gap in Christ Church is home to some of the best restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, and amazing hotels. You can find yourself a steal with an extensive range of all-inclusive resorts, plus several nearby places to discover, including horse racing at Garrison Savannah and Banks Beer Brewery.

Explore the buzzing capital of Bridgetown, located in St. Michael. Among the plentiful attractions here, you can join a rum tasting tour of Mount Gay Rum Distillery and plunge into the underwater dive park featuring fascinating shipwrecks at Carlisle Bay.

For a relaxing, peaceful last-minute holiday, head to St. James on the west coast, commonly known as the Platinum Coast due to its plethora of luxurious hotels and indescribable translucent, turquoise waters. If you’re looking for more than a stunning beachfront hotel with first-class service and immaculate, glistening beaches, then absorb the Barbadian culture with a visit to St James Parish Church. For something more active, play a round of golf at one of the stunning golf courses in St James or spend an afternoon watching the polo at the Barbados Polo Club. Whether you’re looking for a carefree beach holiday or a destination to explore and sightsee, Barbados is guaranteed not to disappoint.
