Snowboxx Festival

Snowboxx is a hedonistic week-long festival that first launched in 2013 in Andorra. It is since then evolved into a much larger scale mountain carnival. This festival offers the perfect blend of ski holiday and music festival. It has stages and venues located at various spots across the slopes at altitudes of over 2000m. Check out Snowboxx’s epic venues for some outrageous partying, from the forest rave and mountain igloo parties to the resort’s XX Club.

Avoriaz is perfectly situated for a festival of this proportion, with a vast ski area comprising of 14 resorts and 650km of pistes. There is certainly no shortfall of skiing or activities here. There are plenty of options off the slopes too, including a heated indoor water park, spas, a squash court, cinemas, ice skating and bowling.

Where is Snowboxx?

Avoriaz in the Portes du Soleil region is home to the renowned Snowboxx festival. The Portes du Soleil area is made up of 14 different resorts, the most well-known ones include Avoriaz, Morzine and Les Gets, with Avoriaz being the highest resort. The ski area offers an incredible 650km of pistes, 200 lifts and 11 snow parks. For those looking for more cruisy skiing, there are plenty of wide blues and greens, and for the advanced skiers feeling adventurous, tackle the notoriously challenging Swiss Wall.

Transport to Avoriaz is very simple; fly into Geneva and from here you can get a bus, private transfer, or train. You could also hire a car, but the resort is car-free, so it would be more convenient to get there via another mode of transport. The closest train station is Thonon Les Bains Station (TGV), Cluses Station and Geneve Station. From the train stations there are shuttles and coaches to ferry people to the Welcome Point in resort. There are special electric taxis and horse drawn sleighs to take you from the Welcome Point or the Cable Car station to your accommodation.

Begin your day with one of Snowboxx’s illustrious bottomless brunches or discover the endless pistes of the Portes du Soleil ski region. Every day from midday they host some outrageous après sessions at La Folie Douce that continue until late. For the ultimate unique festival experience, take one of the snowcats to a hidden igloo on the slopes or secluded forest near the resort to rave with some world-class DJs.

If you feel like a change of scenery, check out the Aquarius pool party – just remember to pack your swimwear! Alongside the pumping music and uber-cool venues, there are a whole host of dining and drinking options in Avoriaz. For a more lowkey evening, to gear you up for the following day, head to one of the local restaurants for a typically French tartiflette or share a fondue. There are lots of bars in town to continue the evening.

When is Snowboxx?

Snowboxx takes place during either the penultimate or last week of March. Absorb the rays while you get the party started at La Folie Douce with a breath-taking backdrop of the snow-covered mountains. During spring, après ski and sunny weather is at its peak. With Avoriaz being the most snow-sure resort of the Portes du Soleil region, reaching an altitude of 1800m, there’s truly nowhere else to be than letting loose at Snowboxx.

Who is playing at Snowboxx?

Snowboxx offers an impressive line-up of DJs and artists mainly from the electronic, drum n bass, and dance scene, but also covers multi-genre performances. Previous headliners have included Rudimental, Loyle Carner, Danny Howard, High Contrast, Sigma and Craig David. By day join in the après sessions, starting at the Folie Douce. This will certainly get you in the mood to continue partying until well beyond the last lifts. Head to the XX Club in the town, the largest indoor club in Avoriaz for some late-night dancing.

How can I book Snowboxx festival?

To book tickets, you can do this via the Snowboxx festival website. All packages include accommodation and ticket. Snowboxx offer ready-to-book packages, with the Standard Package including the Festival wristband and accommodation. Prices start at around £249 per person for a 7 day stay. Any amendments can also be done via their Manage My Booking section.

If you’re feeling flush or celebrating a special occasion, they also offer a VIP Access package, which includes access to the VIP area overlooking the Main Stage with private bar, access to VIP Bar at après, private VIP bars at Main Stage and après, priority queue to Main Stage and 1x free drink voucher to be used at VIP Bars.

Snowboxx festival produces a phenomenal mix of snowsports and live, pumping music. Their standard package, which includes your festival ticket and accommodation starts at reasonable prices. Aside from the skiing/snowboarding, you can also partake in igloo parties, epic snowball fights and even human bowling in zorbs on the snow. With an unbelievable line-up, you’ll be coming back for more each year!

Held in the magnificent resort of Avoriaz that offers 650km of slopes, there are plenty of pistes to be discovered. Access could not be easier with the resort village being fully pedestrianised and all venues being within walking distance from the accommodation.

Fancy dress is a huge part of Snowboxx and has seen the likes of the Teletubbies and Power Rangers, to name a few. Lycra, neon, and retro costumes are favourited by Snowboxx revellers.
