With two glaciers and slopes streaming down from 3000+ metres, Sölden’s excellent ski area set up gives you a high likelihood of good conditions during your weekend or midweek break. And it doesn’t take long to arrive and enjoy them, with the drive from Innsbruck Airport (INN) taking about 75 minutes.
Make sure you can hit the slopes as soon as possible by paying for your equipment hire and lift pass before you set off – that way you won’t waste time waiting in resort and can simply collect your stuff and go (often there are discounts for early bookings too!).
Having meals provided in your accommodation helps save time and money too. In catered chalets, hosts will greet you in the morning with breakfast, provide afternoon tea when you come in from the cold and cook up a hearty dinner with wine to end the day. Half board hotels can also be very convenient, providing breakfasts and suppers and letting you try out local restaurants at lunchtime.
