Guests staying in Chalet Sorojassa – which occupies a quiet spot on the edge of the forest - can ski to the door on a lovely, tree-lined path. If there are advanced skiers in your party, the Chopine in Meribel can be reached off-piste. Val d'Isere's private La Legettaz complex (including chalets Kilimanjaro and Lafitena) has a heavenly position by red Piste M, which leads to the lovely Solaise sector and on into the vast Espace Killy.
For an exhilarating start to the day, Chalet Montana's on the edge of La Face, Val's rather challenging Olympic black run. Elephant Blanc is terrifically positioned for families - even cautious skiers can use the blue Solaise piste from the door and the beginner slopes are within easy reach. This isn't to say skiing to and from your chalet's imperative; most packages include chauffeur services to whisk you from A to B at your leisure.
