Ski Apartments in Switzerland

Switzerland isn’t hailed as a cheap place to ski, but self-catering can be a top way to experience its legendary resorts without forking out too many francs. Alternatively, apartments make a brilliant base for food fans who want to pick and mix restaurants throughout the week, rather than having meals served in the same hotel or chalet throughout the stay.

Luxury Swiss Apartments

If there’s one thing the Swiss do well, it’s all-out luxury. Pick a ski apartment in a high-end resort and the deluxe additions that can make your stay more comfortable just keep on coming. Massage and beauty therapists can be summoned to your pad in Verbier, while Zermatt has more than enough gourmet restaurants to fill a week with. Look out for apartments with their own wellness facilities like saunas and steam rooms too. See our luxury ski apartments in Switzerland here.

Self-catering in Switzerland

A good way to avoid the spikes in blood pressure that can come with the restaurant bills here, self-catering in Switzerland needn’t be difficult. Coop and Migros are two of the main supermarket chains – and you’ll find bigger stores in the airport cities of Zurich, Geneva and Bern. If you’re driving to your resort, these are worth a trip as products are almost always a few price points cheaper than the shops in resort.

If your interpretations of local dishes leave something to be desired, look out for local shops that hire out fondue kits – a fool-proof way to enjoy Swiss food at home. Delicatessens also sometimes prepare meals, which can be heated up and eaten tucked up warm in your apartment.

Swiss Ski Apartments FAQ:

Apartments are self-catered with their own kitchen facilities. Many have reception staff but there won’t usually be staff servicing your apartment on a daily basis (though sometimes you can request this as an add-on). Apartments are smaller and you book the entire unit and won’t be sharing with other guests.

Search on this page for somewhere that fits your specifications or call us and we’ll find the perfect match. To book, we’ll need some basic information about group members and a deposit (or the full balance if your holiday is less than 3 months away).

You cook your own meals or eat out in local restaurants. No meals are provided and no-one else dictates what you eat or when you eat so you have complete flexibility. Apartments are equipped with kitchen facilities to use or ignore as much as you like!

  • Zur Matte B7 in Zermatt has a town centre location
  • Haus Orgon in Zermatt is in a quiet, secluded spot, surrounded by meadows - still within a short walk from resort amenities.

Several apartments can sleep up to 10 guests (like Allalin Apartments in Saas Fee). If you have a group of more than 10 or want more space to spread out, you can request neighbouring apartments within the same complex.

Chalet Gemini in Zermatt and Ivouette and Victoria 111 in Verbier – we couldn’t pick one but these are our top three! For something even more luxurious, ask us about our self-catered luxury chalets which come with designer décor and facilities like swimming pools and spas.

Yes! Usually reception and housekeeping staff. If you book one of our Swiss packages including flights and transfers, you’ll often have a resort rep on hand. Don’t forget we’re always on the other end of the phone if you need anything.

Sometimes Swiss apartments have onsite childcare such as a crèche or kids club. If not, you can always book a private nanny or babysitter, or enrol the kids in a nearby kindergarten or ski school.

Yes, if you’re shopping in the big Swiss hypermarkets and cooking your own meals, apartment holidays will usually work out the cheapest. If you don’t want to do the cooking, a hotel or chalet with catering will probably work out cheaper as Swiss mountain restaurant bills can hike up a holiday cost.
