We don’t have any apartments available in Obertauern at the moment but we do have some lovely hotels such as Hotel Latschenhof which is only 100m from the village centre and Alpenhotel Tauernkönig convienently located just 150m from the nursery slopes. As an alternative to self catering, hotels can still be good value when you calculate the cost of shopping in resort and eating out with the added convenience that there is no effort on your part! If you are specifically looking for a self-catered holiday in Austria, have look at our Austrian apartments here – the Almdorf Cabins in Niederau are a charming set of wooden cabins really near Niederau’s family-friendly resort centre.
Self-catered holidays are often the cheapest way to ski and the great thing about apartments is that they allow you the flexibility to organise your own cooking without being restricted by set meal times. They are the perfect choice for any families as you have the freedom cook as you do at home and everyone can muck in with the shopping and washing up.
The beauty of apartments is that they really feel like a home from home, perfect for cosy evenings in with your nearest and dearest. If you fancy a night off from cooking you have the freedom to sample the local Austrian delicacies. Something you must try is Austria’s national dish of deep- fried breaded veal known locally as Weiner Schnitzel, we love the cosy atmosphere at Almstube. If you’re in the mood for Italian head to Konigsalm restaurant and be treated to some Italian delights with pizzas made in traditional wood burning ovens.
