The weather here in May is known to be lovely and if you’re lucky enough to be in Maderno on a beach day the resort has one of the best sandy beaches in Lake Garda, which is south facing to capture the best of the May sunshine. Rainy spells here are usually short and won’t ruin your stay with so much to do and see indoors in Maderno: see Andrea Celesti’s paintings in the church of Santi Pietro e Paolo over in Toscolano and visit the beautiful church of Sant Andrea or simply sit back and relax in one of Maderno’s charming restaurants and cafes.
Maderno is great for a quiet holiday on Lake Garda where you can combine relaxing in the town with active experience in the beautiful Alto Garda Bresciano national park. If you’d rather stay in a busier Italian town, try Riva or Desenzano and for warmer weather, head south to elegant Sirmione.
