October might not offer glorious sunshine for a holiday of sunbathing on Sirmione’s lovely beaches but the weather is still quite warm (average highs of 18°C) and Sirmione’s position on the southern end of Lake Garda welcomes the best of the autumn sunshine – meaning you’ll feel warmer here than in the towns on the northern end of the lake.
If you’re looking for a summer holiday in a traditionally warm climate, its best to visit Sirmione in the temperate months of May and September, or the warmest months of June, July and August but, if warm weather is not on your perfect-holiday tick-list, read on.
As well as being warmer than the northern towns, Sirmione is also quieter here in October – the International Lake Garda Marathon goes through the northern towns at this time of year bringing a good number of visitors to accommodation at the other end of the lake.
With the marathon taking place at the northern end of the lake and Bardolino’s big wine festival too, October is a fantastic month on the Lake Garda calendar. Sirmione is a fantastic place to stay if you want to experience the area at your own pace and with easy boat and road access to other Lake Garda towns, you can participate in the festivities as much or little as you want.
Enjoy the autumn sunshine in Sirmione wandering around the town or on a walk around the peninsula. Sirmione’s indoor attractions include the Archaeological Museum at Grotte di Catullo, various galleries and shops and the Aquaria wellness centre which are great if you’re caught in one of October’s rainy spells and fancy soaking up a bit of history or art, enjoying some retail therapy or getting well and truly pampered.
October is a brilliant time to visit Sirmione when the summer crowds, heat and humidity have subsided and it’s also a great time for grabbing some great holiday deals. See what we’ve got on offer below by selecting your preferred airport and departure dates.
