With the weather being hot here in July, there’s much to do in the area to enjoy the sunshine. You can hire a boat or take a boat trip from here and lido di Sopri and lido Paina are great places for swimming and sunbathing. Sailing and windsurfing are also popular. For things to do in the shade during the heat of the day, you can spend a lovely afternoon just wandering around the town’s narrow, cobbled streets and discovering charming shops and cafes. The castle here can’t be missed and has a great natural history museum attached if you’re looking for something to do indoors in the warmest couple of hours. Another popular indoor attraction is a visit to the Cassone museum and the various art exhibitions which are on throughout the summer. Malcesine’s warm evenings in July are perfect for al fresco dining in the town’s fine collection of restaurants and after dinner strolls down the promenade.
Malcesine is a popular Lake Garda resort and while it can become quite busy in the peak summer months, you can easily get away from the bustle and heat of the town. There are some lovely cool olive groves further out for leisurely walks and this is the best place to stay if you want to explore Mont Baldo - take a scenic cable car ride up the mountain and cycle, walk or even paraglide down.
Malcesine is brilliant in July and is a perfect place to stay if you like sightseeing, walking and cycling in warm sunny weather. For a quieter resort, consider Torri and Maderno or for somewhere with great access to other Italian towns, stay in Peschiera.
