If you need a Christmas break away from crowded shops and Boxing Day sales, Scheffau is a great choice for winter escape. Here you’ll not only be treated to a true white Christmas, waking up to the snow covered slopes, but you’ll often find candlelit Christmas Eve walks in the snow on offer. What better way to keep yourself warm than a hot mug of mulled wine you’ll be greeted with at the end, before putting your feet up in one of Scheffau’s cosy hotels, like the Hotel Kaiser or the Land Hotel Alpin. Many of the hotels in the resort also offer great Christmas dinners, so you’ll get a traditional Tyrolean festive experience.
If you want some unforgettable Christmas fun, take a short bus or taxi ride down to Söll to Erwin and his pack of Huskies, or venture slightly further to Alpeniglu, to see who can sculpt the best ice-Santa, or take a guided tour through their magnificent Ice Land fairy tale exhibition. With the added backing of SkiWelt’s plentiful snow cannons, snow cover here at this time of year is usually fairly good, so you can go ahead and book worry-free in the knowledge that you’re likely to enjoy great conditions for your Christmas skiing.
