We all know that Easter skiing can be risky, but that’s not often the case at Kaprun. If the Kitzsteinhorn glacier isn’t capable of putting your fears of a snow free holiday to bed, then nothing will be. With lift access to just over 3000m, and ten lifts taking you over 2452m, you can easily ski near the peak all day. Downloading is encouraged year round, especially later on in the season, which ensures that you comfortably avoid the sketchy lower mountain conditions sometimes present during the later stages of the season. There’s still plenty of fun to be had by those who don’t fancy the higher slopes- Maiskogel’s snowmaking facilities are usually effective towards the end of the season, and the balcony at the Stangabauer is the perfect place to keep an eye on the slopes whilst soaking up some sun, and perhaps even enjoying a drink or two.
Staying in a B&B over Easter gives you the chance to really make the most of the sunny après locations on offer in Kaprun. Take each day as it comes and enjoy the views over a cold beer at The Pavillon, followed up by some exquisite local cuisine at The Reiteralm. Catered chalets provide you with lots of nooks and crannies to hide away some treats from the Easter bunny, and many prepare a gala dinner on the day itself. The weather is traditionally a lot milder at this time of year, so a self-drive holiday could be an appealing option if you’re looking to take your own equipment with you.
