Switzerland: ski weekends and short breaks

Switzerland’s famously efficient transport system makes ski weekends a breeze: pick a resort with its own train station and let the rail transfer become part of the holiday as you zoom past alpine lakes, snowy meadows and jagged peaks. You don’t have to wait around for other passengers to board a coach before you set off – instead just set off to the airport train station from arrivals (usually only a 5 minute walk away) and you’re off.

The most snow sure resorts here give your short break the best possible chance of good conditions, with Zermatt’s highest pistes being open throughout the year and Saas-Fee opening in the summertime too.

Saas-Fee – the chocolate box village of Saas-Fee has speedy access to a snow sure glacier area, featuring some of the best snow conditions in the alps.

Verbier – known the world over for its lively après ski, luxury chalets and legendary off-piste.

Zermatt - Zermatt is an iconic mountain town, with amazing scenery of the Matterhorn and an incredibly snow sure ski area.
