Location of Northern Lights Village in Levi

  • Location: Northern Lights Village is in a remote wooded area, about 17 km from Levi centre.
  • Transport: A shuttle service to/from Levi is available (subject to timing and availability). Return transfers from Kittilä Airport (approx. 30 minutes by coach or minibus) are included.
  • Levi Centre: Offers shops, a supermarket, cafes, restaurants, a bowling alley, and access to the ski slopes.

Located just outside the resort of Levi, the Northern Lights Village enjoys a peaceful and remote location surrounded by forests. This secluded location gives you a wonderful opportunity to experience the beauty of the Arctic wilderness while also giving you the best chance to spot the Northern Lights. Thanks to the minimal light pollution in the area, the vibrant aurora borealis is usually visible and more vibrant, creating an unforgettable and magical experience.

Experience an unforgettable stay under the stars in a glass-roof cabin at the Northern Lights Village. The specially designed Aurora Suites feature a laser-heated glass roof, providing unobstructed views of the starry night skies and giving you the chance to witness the incredible Northern Lights from the comfort of your cabin.

The Aurora Suites are spacious, with sleeping arrangements for up to five people. They are an ideal choice for families or small groups looking to go on a Lapland Adventure. Each suite includes comfortable double or twin beds under the glass roof, a double sofa bed for two people, and an additional single armchair bed. After a day of Arctic adventures, each suite is equipped with its own sauna, allowing you to warm up and relax in comfort. Don’t worry about staying awake into the early hours—the aurora alert will notify you when the light display is overhead to ensure you don’t miss a moment.

Your Lapland holiday wouldn't be complete without some exciting winter excursions. We have a range of activities available to pre-book, which allow you to immerse yourself in the unique Lappish culture and traditions of the region.

10km Husky Safari

Experience the thrill of driving a husky team through Levi’s snowy forests. The eager dogs race ahead as your sled glides over shimmering trails. At a fork, the lead dog looks back – left or right? Mush!

Your adventure begins at an Aurora hut and takes you deep into untouched winter wilderness. A magical memory in the making!

Duration: 2 hours (husky sledding approx. 1 hour)

  • Each husky team is usually shared by two adults or one adult and one child: one adult will drive the sleigh, and the other person will ride as a passenger
  • Children will always sit as passengers in the sleigh for safety reasons
  • Only adults 18+ are permitted to drive the husky sleighs

Reindeer Day

Step into a snowy fairytale and discover the traditions of reindeer herding in Lapland. Meet a local herder, learn how reindeer thrive in the Arctic, and hear stories of their role in Lappish life.

Then, relax on a peaceful sleigh ride through the silent, snow-covered forest. Afterwards, enjoy a hearty soup lunch with rye bread and warm berry juice

Snowmobile Safari

Kickstart your Lapland adventure on a snowmobile safari through deep forests and sparkling snowfields. With the village behind you, ride into the heart of nature where silent trees and snowy trails set the scene.

We’ll pause for photos, a warming drink, and a tasty soup lunch—keep an eye out for the Siberian jay, a bird of legend in these parts.

No experience needed: your guide will provide full instructions for a safe, thrilling journey into the Arctic wilderness.

Duration: 4 hours

  • All drivers must be 18 years+ and bring a full, valid photographic driver's licence with them to the excursion.
  • Children must be aged 13 years or above and at least 140cm tall to ride as a passenger on a snowmobile; they must be able to touch the footrest when sitting on the snowmobile.
  • Children under this height or aged 4-12 years will be towed in a sled or pod behind the guide. Infants (aged 0-3 years) can't take part in this excursion.
  • Single riders who have purchased a sharing snowmobile may need to upgrade locally to a single-driving snowmobile if a shared snowmobile is not available.

Aurora Hunting by Snowmobile

Head into the Arctic night on a snowmobile, leaving behind the lights of the village for the stillness of the snowy forest. Stop to warm up by the fire with hot snacks and drinks, whilst keeping watch on the sky above.

With a bit of luck, the Northern Lights may appear. Whether you're capturing photos or simply enjoying the moment, the experience is unforgettable.

Snowshoeing offers a true connection to Lapland’s wild beauty. Walk through deep snow and quiet forests, past snow-covered trees and hidden wildlife. With luck, you might spot a Siberian jay, willow grouse, or even reindeer.

Hike to a nearby fell, build a fire, and take in the stunning views. Ideal for nature-lovers and photographers looking to explore the wilderness.

Northern Lights Snowshoe

Step into the silent forest, where the only sound is the crunch of snow beneath your snowshoes as you trek through deep drifts and beneath snow-laden trees. The moon and stars light your path, creating a sense of timeless connection to nature.

Deep in the woods, a warm hut awaits. Gather around the fire, enjoy snacks and hot drinks, and watch the sky. With a bit of luck, the Northern Lights will dance above, painting the night in shimmering colour.

Cross Country Ski Lesson

Strap on your skis and set off – before long, you’ll be gliding over the snow just like the ancient Laplanders. If you can walk, you can ski! This beginner-friendly course includes a short lesson in the basics or cross-country skiing, then it’s time to follow the forest trail and take in the snowy beauty of Lapland.

MEALS AT Northern Lights Village, Levi

Each morning you can enjoy a varied breakfast with a selection of sweet and savoury options, often including pastries, breads, fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, waffles, cheeses and meats.

Aurora Suites are around 44m², sleeping two to five people. The suites have a comfortable double bed, a double sofa bed and a single armchair bed. Each of the Aurora Suites have a private sauna and a laser-heated glass roof, so you'll have unobstructed views of the northern sky.

Aurora Cabins are around 29m² and sleep up to four people. The Aurora cabins each have a laser-heated glass roof so you can look up into the dark Northern sky above. Inside the cabin, there's a double or twin beds and a double sofa bed. Aurora cabins are available on request. Please give our Reservations team a call to book.

Please note that all cabins are detached and can be up to 200 metres from the reception building.

This package holiday to Northern Lights Village in Levi, Finland / Lapland departs Sunday 11th January 2026, for a 3 night stay on a "half board" board basis.
