Tignes (pronounced 'Teens' by Brits and 'Teenya' by the French) is one half of the vast ‘Tignes-Val d'Isere’ ski area, one of the biggest linked domains in France. High-altitude terrain and Grande Motte glacier skiing ensure the resort both opens earlier in the ski season and also closes later than most resorts, and we’ve even seen lifts running for stints of summer skiing. Split into 5 purpose-built villages with distinct characters, it's well linked by pistes, lifts and free buses. Tignes Le Lac (aka Tignes...
With varied pistes at a high altitude, the ski area has impressive powdered terrain for skiers and boarders alike. Beginners can practice on the nursery slopes at Le Lac and Le Lavachet, where you'll find gentle, quiet runs that are accessible via free beginners' lifts. Le Bollin at Val Claret is another conveniently situated green and Grattalu is a lovely wide blue for those wanting to build confidence. Tignes is incredible if you ski at an intermediate level, with miles of powdery blue and red runs includi...
While it's said that those who appreciate Tignes do so for the serious skiing over the après ski, this doesn't do justice to the fact that Tignes' 60+ bars/pubs and 4 night clubs provide some of the best nightlife in the Alps. All villages have their fair share of places to eat and drink, and with a shuttle bus service running 24 hours, you can enjoy your evening without worrying about the journey back. Jam bar is small but with a great atmosphere and Loop bar pretty much offers it all: with live sport, world c...

"Very good facilities"

The room and facilities etc were very good, but, if being really picky the sofa couldn’t sit everyone, although you could use the dining chairs, so it was fine. Everything in the chalet was spotless. The boot room was great and a there was a ski rack too. Overall the holiday was good value for money and we had a great time. The hosts were lovely people but there wasn’t much negotiation on the dinner times and there were a couple of other small issues. We’ve had better hosts in the past and we met other members of the resort team who were great. We weren’t that impressed with the food compared to past experiences. The croissants and baked goods weren’t fresh and some of the food was prepped elsewhere. You can ski right back to the chalet and all ski abilities were able to do it. To get to the lifts you can walk up to the nearest piste then ski down to the lifts, or you can walk or ski down to the bus stop to Tignes Le Lac. There is not much apres in Tignes 1800, so not great for the youngsters and you have to negotiate the buses back from the main town. Make sure you set off early in the afternoon to avoid missing the last lifts to ski back to Tignes 1800. 3.5/5

"Really good chalet."

Really good chalet, sole occupancy worked really well, not sure it would work on a room by room basis. The staff wear really good we had two main hosts who were both really impressive. Really impressed with the food, for the first time we had a charge for one celiac. We were a bit surprised by this but it turned out being totally worth it he had a completely different meal, with different croissants, bread etc for breakfast, the change was definitely worth it. Location is super easy to ski from, 30 m from the chalet you can ski down to the main lifts in Les Brevieres. We know Tignes very well so knew how to get around and get the two busses back from Apres in Le Lac or Le Levachet. Might be tricky if you didn’t know your way around. It was a long journey but worth it for the price. If you want some supplies for the Chalet, there is nothing really around the chalet, it is a nice quiet location.
