We had a good week, the chalet hotel is fine and perfectly functional. We’d read reviews saying it wasn’t particularly sparkling so knew what to expect. The food arrangements were good, the kids liked their dinners and it was particularly nice to have hot drinks and snacks available all day. We had 2 bedrooms... + more

The food was outstanding and the staff were absolutely lovely, but the hotel was full of kids. It’s fine if you’re a family but I wouldn’t recommend it to groups of friends. In the Savoie region of the French Alps, La Plagne was established in the early sixties and now consists of 11 villages: 7 purpose built and 4 traditional. The aptly named Plagne Centre at the heart of the resort is the main hub of shops, restaurants and après ski. Just underneath lies Plagne 1800, a cluster of chalets spread across a steep hillside. Higher up are Aime-la-Plagne, Plagne-Soleil and Plagne-Villages, all accessible via chairlifts from Plagne Centre. Plagne Bellecote rests over a low ridge to th...
There are plenty of nursery slopes with access to free beginner lifts for those new to skiing. This is complimented by a wide choice of different ski schools ready to cater to your particular needs. The slopes around the Belle Plagne area are particularly suitable for beginners, with the blue run linking Les Bauches to Montchavin, providing a manageable step up in difficulty from the nursery slopes. For those who class themselves as intermediate standard skiers this really is paradise. 77% of the runs are gra...
This is an exceptional resort for unique après ski opportunities. Spend the night in the Black Sheep Igloos, facing Mont Blanc, complete with a fondue meal and a morning wakeup call with breakfast. If this isn’t your idea of fun then ice climbing in Champagny and husky sledding are also on offer. One experience not to be missed is the bobsleigh track, used for Olympic training. There are a variety of ways you can choose to go down it, but they are all guaranteed to give you a thrill as you will hurtle down at ...

"Perfectly functional"

We had a good week, the chalet hotel is fine and perfectly functional. We’d read reviews saying it wasn’t particularly sparkling so knew what to expect. The food arrangements were good, the kids liked their dinners and it was particularly nice to have hot drinks and snacks available all day. We had 2 bedrooms and both were fine in terms of storage etc. The location is excellent as you can ski in and ski out. The only thing that could be improved is that there are no facilities for children who aren’t in the kids club, so our 13 year old son didn’t have much to do. He met some boys of a similar age in his adult ski lessons but in the actual chalet hotel, there’s not even a TV. This wasn’t a big problem as he was skiing most of the time anyway, but it would have been nice for his age group to have something to do.

"A family hotel, not for groups!"

The food was outstanding and the staff were absolutely lovely, but the hotel was full of kids. It’s fine if you’re a family but I wouldn’t recommend it to groups of friends. One of us was told off for laughing when we came back (before midnight), but none of us got any sleep with screaming children from one floor to the other at all hours of the night. The rooms were dated. It’s too far from any bars and clubs, there’s nothing in the immediate vicinity at all. The location is pretty good for skiing though.
