We had a very good and social holiday, (usually very good in chalets), although missed the ski hosting. Hosts in chalet were very good and helpful especially as Madeleine was training for the London Marathon. Given a choice we prefer the jacuzzi outside. We love the boot warmers and ski in/out. + more

Location: where is Chalet Le Château

Chalet Le Chateau is the largest of our five chalets located in the charming Le Village in Alpe d'Huez. The chalet boats an enviable location at the foot of the slopes, with two pistes flanking either side of our chalets, making this the ultimate ski in ski out location. From the lower floors of the chalet you have lovely views over the charming cobbled courtyard, whilst from the upper floors there are views across to the slopes of Les Bergers to the front and behind the chalet of the Rond Points des Pistes. The town centre is a pleasant 10 minutes' walk away, where you'll find a vibrant resort, with plenty of great bars, restaurants and shopping, plus an outdoor ice rink and swimming pool. If you don't fancy the walk into town, then take the aerial route as the nearby caged gondola lift can transport you to different parts of the resort.

Overview: chalet description: Chalet Le Château description

The largest of our five chalets, Le Chateau is another beautiful chalet with eight spacious and comfortable bedrooms accommodating up to fifteen guests. The chalet is attractively furnished, with timber clad walls and a roaring stone fireplace, plus comfortable furnishings that make this chalet feel cosy and warm, perfect for a family getaway or a trip with a group of friends looking for a home from home in the mountains.

Entrance to the chalet is on the ground floor, where you'll find a ski and boot room on entry, so you can safely store your equipment and keep it warm and dry. Take a right after entering and you'll find a downstairs WC just by the stairs, or follow the corridor to the end and on the left you'll find the wonderful spa facilities that this chalet has to offer, with an indoor sauna, shower and hot tub. It's the perfect spot in which to relax after an enjoyable day on the ski slopes.

On the ground floor there are two spacious twin bedrooms (90 x 200cm) with en-suite bathrooms and WC, each with a private terrace area overlooking the charming cobbled courtyard outside. Up the stairs to the first floor there is another twin en-suite bedroom with bathtub, WC and balcony. Premium Contactless Catering Service

Your chalet will be ready on arrival - beds made, dinner ready and fridges stocked*, wine-cellars replenished, skis and lift passes all booked. But you won't see us. We'll be at the end of the phone, but there will be no contact, unless you need it. We will visit your chalet mid-week to give it a full clean and change of towels and bed-linen, but this shall be done during the day, whilst you're out on the slopes. You and your family will be safe and looked-after, as we work in the background, providing everything you need.

Our contactless catering service comes with the choice of two pricing options, a fixed menu with food and drink included in the price, and our à la carte option which allows you greater flexibility to eat and drink whatever you desire and the cost of the food is on supplement, at cost price, and depending on what produce you choose to order.

For those looking for a simple packaged chalet price, we are offering an all-inclusive price, which includes rental of the chalet and your food and drink for the week. Included will be breakfast, snacks to take with you skiing, afternoon tea and cakes/snacks, pre-dinner nibbles a three course dinner on 6 out of 7 nights, with a selection of after dinner cheeses, plus champagne for your first night, a kir for before dinner and unlimited wine and some beers. We have prepared a delicious menu for the week, with a mix of ready prepared meals from a local delicatessen and easy to cook dishes or sides. All that will be required from you is to pop a few things in the oven and throw together a few ingredients to make a simple salad, or steam a few vegetables as sides to your main meal.

Perhaps you want the freedom to choose your own menus, or perhaps you'd prefer to eat out more than one evening during the week, or you just love to cook yourself and enjoy the holidays where you have time to do this in a relaxed way. That's where our à la carte contactless catering service comes in. As an alternative to the service detailed above, we will also offer a lower rate, which does not include the food and drink for the week and we will give you the opportunity to order the food and drink of your choice, at the local hypermarket rates, and bill you for this afterwards. Four days before arrival, you will receive a comprehensive provisions list with everything you could possibly need for your holiday. That might be oven-ready meals, or the ingredients you'll need for Bolognaise, Soufflés or Cheese Fondues. Dry goods, dairy, fresh fruit and veg, fresh meat or fish, beers, wines, champagne, whatever, all bought for you and stocked in advance.

Our aim is to provide the safest possible environment for a ski holiday, whilst staying as affordable as possible. The new way to holiday will be by enjoying the facilities, food and beverages but without the staff waiting on you hand and foot. That will keep things safe and affordable. However, for those in search of a little more luxury, we are able to provide drivers, chefs, daily cleaning, ski lessons etc, all of which can be discussed at the time of booking or with our concierge service prior to arrival.

**Please note that for the à la carte option, all food, drink, ski hire and lift passes come at additional costs and are not included in the chalet price. Provisions will be billed at cost price and can be ordered from the list that will be sent out to you, and ski hire and lift passes can be booked in advance with our preferential rates. For our fixed menu option, the price does not include ski hire and lift passes, but it does include breakfast and afternoon tea for 7 days, plus a 3-course dinner with beer and wine for 6 days.

We update Chalet Le Château's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

With a transfer time of around 2 hours, Alpe d'Huez is very accessible from Grenoble or Chambery airport. Established in 1936, it was the first resort in France to be installed with a fully operational ski lift. The resort lies in the Grandes Rousses Massif domain. It is partnered by the smaller mountain villages of Auris-en-Oisans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany and La Garde, all of which are connected by a free transport system. The slopes are mainly south facing and as a result the area, known as "...
Alpe d’Huez has had sun and snow galore since 1936, and with the culmination of around 20 Million Euros of improvements due to come to fruition for 2021, there is a huge ski area to be explored. With a whopping 52km of greens, this is an excellent place for beginners. The easiest skiing is above the village and Les Bergers. There are plenty of wide-open runs underneath the DMC gondola, many being ‘beginners only’ so you can learn without too much traffic. If you’re feeling confident, try some of the bl...
If you like live music, try the Underground in Vieil Alpe. It combines a pleasant atmosphere with bands playing most nights. Smithy’s has drinks promotions and healthy portions of Tex-Mex food to match. If you can’t bear to miss an important game whilst in France, O’Sharkey’s is the best spot to watch live sports. L’igloo is the place to go if you want to party late into the night. Alpe d’Huez has all of the usual culinary delights you’d expect in the mountains. To sample some traditional French food, ...

"Chalet Experience"

Every moment of the holiday was enjoyable. The staff were incredible as they had to wake up early to wake up the guests and still going for it in the evening. They never ate in front of us but I'm sure they had food before we got up and during the time we were away skiing. The chef always made wonderful food and it was always ready on time. The chalet itself is lovely and it is positioned in the best possible place (right next to the skiing (no buses)). The skiing was perfect and the weather was wonderful. Also the other guests made the holiday enjoyable. Overall it was the best I have ever experienced and it's way better than I could have ever imagined. Thank you so much to everyone but mostly the chalet staff and the people who made the chalet to enable easy skiing.
