The Aparthotel Alpina’s a great-value pick that doesn’t scrimp on the extras. It’s in a handy spot too – just 5 minutes’ walk from the main lifts and close to the bars and restaurants in the centre of Tignes Val Claret.

The shutters and wooden balconies give the place chalet-style looks. And the alpine theme continues inside, with plenty of panelling and chunky timber beams – look out for the old farming tools decorating the walls in the bar. The apartments themselves are a comfy home from home, complete with a little kitchenette if you fancy whipping up an après-ski snack.

Speaking of food, you’ll be staying half board, so breakfasts and dinners are sorted. Kick things off with a buffet spread each morning, and in the evening sit down to 3-course dinners over at the L’Alpina. It isn’t fine dining, but you’ll be treated to plenty of regional favourites like tartiflette – packed with potatoes, bacon and cheese, it’s the perfect fuel for skiing.

And don’t forget your swimming gear if you want to make a splash in the pool at the end of the day. Or for something more relaxing, sit back and soothe your ski legs in the sauna.

All rooms have a small kitchenette with two hot plates and fridge, plus a cable TV and some have a balcony. Towels, bed linen, beds made on arrival and cleaning (except kitchen) are included.
