Easter is a great time of year to visit the Graubünden region, especially with the Engadin valley’s sunny climate. Sit out on the deckchairs at one of the mountain huts and work on your tan, or carve down the high-altitude glaciers in Diavolezza and Corvatsch, which are ideal for late-season skiing. Over in Davos/Klosters there isn’t a glacier but you will find a selection of great high-altitude slopes around the Weissfluhjoch. The runs coming down from Parsenn around Klosters are shady and tend to stay in good condition till late in the season too. It’s also a really nice time of year to go for walks in the forests or hike up the mountains – our favourite area for walking in the Graubünden region is the Muottas Muragl mountain in the Engadin valley, which is served by a funicular and has miles of walking paths. You can also go snow shoeing here, and there is a whole igloo village up on the mountain.
Klosters and Davos have been named official ‘Families Welcome’ destinations by the Swiss Tourism Association and with good reason; they have lots of fun activities to keep cheeky monkeys entertained, as well as plenty of family-friendly hotels and restaurants. Go ice skating together, or tobogganing (always a family favourite) or take children to the wonderful Madrisaland play park at the top of the Madrisa gondola. Families will feel at home in St. Moritz too where you’ll find the Salastrains children’s play area and ski school slightly up the mountain from the town.
