Avoid!

Reviewed 20 Oct 2020

Turned up without child seat despite me checking three times previously that they would definitely have a child seat for my 1 year old. They then tried to make me put him on my lap!! The owner swore on the phone when I started getting mad that I was now stranded alone with a child in Geneva!

Spring skiing in Valmorel

Reviewed 2 Jun 2016

We stayed here in late March / early April and though I didn’t notice a lot of snow, we had enough to ski on and had a good week. If you can ski well there’s a lot of scope for skiing, we went across to different mountains. Beginners would be reduced tp a smaller area though. There are a lot of activities laid on for non-skiers like walks.

Skiing Paradise can be found in Valmorel!

Reviewed 4 Dec 2013

What an epic true wonder Valmorel La Belle is! Having skied many resorts in Europe and California, there has to be a reason why we keep going back to Valmorel? In fact there are several reasons why this little typically french village with a huge ski area blows me away every time we visit - Firstly, the village of Valmorel itself is utterly charming and very pretty. With quaint shops and restaurants serving delicious cuisine as well as well equipped mini-markets for those who are self catering. It is suitable for families with children of all ages as well as adults alike. Secondly, the ski area is vast. If you are a more competent skier (early intermediate and above)then always go for the Grande Domaine pass as the skiing over in St. Francois Longchamp is a pure playground of fun. Thirdly, the off-piste!! After a good dump of snow, this ski area is literally heaven on earth. The off-piste opportunities in Valmorel itself are enough to hear the screams of pure jubilation and excitement from skiers and boarders on a powder day. The off-piste is just as excellent over in St. Francois Longchamp especially if you head to the right from the top of Madeleine. Take one very high and slightly scary chairlift to the very top, duck a rope (not condoning)and hear yourself hollar all the way back down to the lift. I think Valmorel deserves four stars for intermediate skiers and boarders as the terrain is so varied and exciting. New over the last two years has been the addition of Club Med; the resort has been built to be in-keeping with the stunning surroundings. I have enjoyed skiing in Valmorel at different times over the winters and late January is always a great time to go as the resort and pistes are quiet and the prices are much lower, however I have never had so much fun as when we enjoyed New Year 2012/13 in Valmorel; the ski instructor show, fireworks and live DJ right on the slopes under the stars and in the snow make New Year in Valmorel very special. I can't speak highly enough of this charming hidden gem, I absolutely love it and will continue to return year after year. Happy skiing!
