Excellent apres & off piste

I’d been to St Anton before and am a big fan of Austria. The conditions at the end of March were OK as we’d been lucky with the weather. The apres ski is excellent and the ski area is pretty vast with good skiing off piste.

April weather was too hot at the beginning of the week and too cloudy at the end. Being right at the end of the season a fair bit of it was shut but there was still plenty of bars and clubs and places to drink – like Basecamp. It wasn’t as lively as I’d expected but again it was the end of the season, and it was fine for us.
Family trip to St Anton

I would recommend St Anton to everyone. I’ve been a few times now. The ski school are great there and the whole process is really easy. In France the ski schools run until 12 and then you have to go back and collect them, but here they ski until 3.30pm which is much better. It isn’t really a beginner resort but there’s enough for our 3 children to do.

The snow conditions weren’t brilliant, but it was April. The slopes were slushy, probably the worst condition I’ve experienced. We still managed to ski in the mornings though. This is definitely not a resort for beginners (especially on the week we went, as the only open run back down was a black run). It’s more an intermediate and advanced level resort.
St Anton itself is a brilliant resort – fantastic for young people. It’s probably one of the best resorts in the world for après ski.

Liked St Anton, it was fine for our family. I think I actually prefer France though – the facilities in Austria are good but it’s all hotels, France has more restaurants and the food is much better. Also France is a bit more shabby chic whereas we thought Austria was more modern.

I loved St. Anton! It was the first time that I had skied here and as it was Feb half term, it was crazy busy. I thought it was fantastic though. It is one of the top resorts in the world and it certainly reflects that.

Will definitely go back to St Anton, it was busy but really good. Accommodation all seems to be a bit bigger in Austria than you get in France, and the locals are friendlier too! It was really sunny (I got very sunburned) but we still managed to enjoy the snow.

Pretty good restaurants up on the piste and nice runs, though from a snowboarder’s perspective it’s more skier friendly in terms of how the runs are set up. One piece of advice – there’s a ski lift that goes up to the other half of the resort where there’s a snow park, it’s worth checking it out early on in the week as we only discovered it later and there are some really nice runs over there.

St Anton is a lovely, pretty resort and great for some fun and après ski etc. It has everything that you need and I had a great time. It could have done with some sun however, as it was basically a whiteout whilst I was there. I am a good skier and I still felt that the skiing is pretty hard core… Especially when the weather is bad. The slopes down to the town were pretty difficult, especially if you’ve had a few drinks beforehand! My friends did ski guiding as well whilst we were there and loved it.
Another great thing is that there are heated chairlifts!!

Great! This was the first time we’d been to Austria as we always do France. Eating out and bars definitely seemed cheaper, and everyone was generally more polite. We always ski at half term when France has huge queues to get to the lifts, but here it was so much quieter, you wouldn’t have known it was half term week! There were much fewer ski schools and less young children around. It was a pleasant surprise and I would recommend trying Austria.
St Anton has good skiing and plenty to do. We had a mix of weather including a couple of white out days when the braver members of the group skied and the rest of us stayed in. One day we had wall to wall blue skies, and in general the snow conditions were good.
Good, but prefer France

St Anton’s one of the resorts we’d heard a lot about and wanted to go to. It’s hiked up to be quite crazy, which it is - and of course there’s plenty of skiing. But I don’t know if we’d return… I think we’ll go back to France next year. A lot of the bars are run by Austrians and Germans, while in Courchevel and so, there are a lot more English people. Also everything’s a lot dearer than I’d expected, it’s definitely cheaper in France. We went to a bar and asked for some shots and ended up with a bill of 50 euros! Overall it was very good, but just didn’t have the spark you get in France.

St Anton’s skiing is really good, a bit difficult for beginners but we only had a couple of learners with us. We’d heard the après was amazing, but it wasn’t really our style – it’s very cheesy! Weather was variable – one blue sky day, reasonable visibility on half of the other days and snowy on the rest.

I’d been to St Anton about 10 years ago, and having returned in 2016 it hasn’t changed much. The rest of the group hasn’t been but no one had a bad word to say about it, we had a good week. We had pretty decent weather – with 6/6 days of skiing you can’t complain! We were a mixed bunch with some first and second timers, and other’s who’d skied hundreds of times.
We did a day out in Lech (I hired a VW minibus from the town – there’s no end of them). There’s some nice skiing and we might try and stay there next year as we like to stay somewhere new each time.
We weren’t interested in the night life but did go and have 4-5 beers each evening. There are plenty of bars and restaurants.
All things considered it’s a great resort, just a bit more expensive than others. I’ve more recently skied in Soll where you shave at least £100 off the price of things which is quite considerable when it all adds up.
Charming, but Lech more family friendly

St Anton is a charming little place in the valley but be cautious about the ski area if you’re not a confident skier. I took my daughter here who was only 7 and didn’t realise that St Anton is a harder resort – the red runs are more like blacks so it’s more of a place for advanced skiers. We ended up catching the bus to Lech for the easier skiing which worked fine. I would come here again but would probably spend more time getting the bus into Lech, or I’d consider staying in Lech itself. There’s a fantastic leisure centre with a really lovely swimming pool where we spent a few afterntons.

I’d definitely go back to St Anton, really loved it there! The town is lively with good pubs and live music if you wanted to go out and the skiing was great. I wouldn’t recommend it to beginners, three of the people I went with weren’t very good skiers and struggled a bit, but if you’re an average skier intermediate and upwards you’d love it.

I’d have no problems going back here – the first time I stayed here we were right in the centre of the town at the bottom of the first lift and we found it so noisy. You had the noise from the bars and clubs and then by the time the people were going home from those, you had the workers starting up early for the day. The second time I stayed a bit further out which was much better.
It’s a nice town and there’s plenty to do. The skiing is brilliant, there’s more for intermediates rather than the really fast stuff. It’s about an hour and a half transfer from the airport which isn’t bad. On the whole I prefer skiing in Austria to France, they’re better organised, cater more for on-piste and do food and entertainment better than the French resorts.

One of the best resorts in Europe – the lift system is very fast and efficient. Even if there’s a queue that looks like something you’d find at Alton Towers, they get shot of the queues quickly. The longest I’ve waited is ten minutes and that was when only a couple of runs were open so everyone in resort was in the same place.
Considering it was the end of March, the weather was very disappointing: 1 day where you couldn’t go out at all, then when it wasn’t snowing the area was avalanche level 5! There are some things to do if you can’t ski – there’s a large indoor and outdoor pool with a gym and sauna which seemed to be the main option.
St Anton has a nice town centre with all the bars and restaurants on one big long walk. Unlike the vast majority of resorts which are very up and down, it’s generally quite flat. The nightlife is great – a good mix of live music, karaoke and clubs. If you’re in your 20’s you’d be in your element with the Mooserwirt on the last run into town which always has live music and bands playing.
The distance from the airport is another bonus. Innsbruck airport is a really nice place to fly into – fast and efficient not that big but not that busy either
The variety of off piste and terrain is incredible – I would say you’d need to have gone skiing at least 3 times before to fully enjoy it all. I love being able to go over to Lech - the perfect resort and definitely one of the best I’ve been to. It has some amazing long, motorway runs for gliding, so you can develop technique.
One criticism I have of St Anton is that they don’t groom the slopes as many times as other resorts – often they’re groomed in the morning then again in the afternoon but in St Anton they only seem to do it once, so it can get exceptionally chopped up and mogully.
For ski hire, I would suggest going with Intersport. The speed and quality of their service is excellent. The shops are always nice and clean, with everything you need and the staff speak perfect English. They are really fast at fitting and if you don’t like your skis, they’ll swap them in a couple of minutes so you can go straight back out. They have lockers which are sometimes free to use. With the main Intersport shop, you’re only 20 feet from the Galzig chair lift which is only 30/40 yards from the Rendl lift. If you’re staying in the Nasserein area, the Nasserein gondola is again only 20 feet from the shop over there.

We spent our first family ski holiday here and had a great time, the kids are still talking about it!
It’s a fantastic resort, well known for après ski but we didn’t see much of that with children!
We all had lessons and the ski school was great – the kids loved it. We were a bit worried about conditions as we were going quite late in the season, but we had loads of snow – I was up to my waist in powder on some of the days and we also had a couple of days of sunshine. The area is huge so there’s loads of skiing. If you’re into off piste, they have some great routes that are basically a dotted line on the piste map where the route is unpisted but patrolled.
The coach transfer was amazing as it’s very quick - only an hour and a quarter/hour and a half from Innsbruck.

We had a good week but it snowed almost all the time so most of St Anton was shut! We always ski at Easter, the warmer weather is more pleasant for children which makes it worth putting up with the afternoon slush – however this time there was no slush at all and it was so cold, it was as if we were skiing in late November!
One the one sunny day we had, they only opened one run so we spent 3 hours skiing the same run with everybody else…
Because it snowed so much our concept of the runs was completely different – we’d ski a blue and a black and find no difference between them!
The bus services run every 20 mins/half hour at the beginning and end of the ski day, but between that it’s something like every 55 minutes which was a total nightmare, some days we’d come of the mountain very cold because of 40-50mph winds and we’d have to pay for a taxi back which would be something like £40! There isn’t a lot to do in St Anton if truth be known but luckily we had a nice chalet with a good group of people.
St Anton has 3 Intersport hire places, one in the Nasserein area where we stayed, another by the big lift and then a diddy one about a hundred yards away from that – by chance we ended up in the latter one (thinking it was the big one) which turned out to be really lucky as we didn’t have to queue. The staff were very helpful and we could pay to leave our skis there which made the walk from our chalet in Nasserein a lot easier.
The transfer from Innsbruck was almost why we chose the holiday here, it’s only one and a quarter hours and there are no winding mountain roads, which was like Christmas had arrived early!

We hadn’t been to St Anton before but we will go back. We liked everything about it: nice slopes, friendly people and good après. I would definitely recommend skiing here.

We both had a really good week in St Anton, I’d been there before with my family and love skiing there. The skiing’s more on the difficult side, I don’t think I’d recommend it to a complete beginner. One of the best things is the nightlife, which is always really busy. Taps is a great bar up on the mountain and we also like Bar Cuba in town, which is the bar that all the seasonaires go to. Another recommendation – there’s an amazing restaurant over in St Christoph that we always go to, which has an amazing wine cellar.

We were a group of 14 on men’s trip of fathers and sons and I think everyone would like to go back to St Anton! There was enough for us fathers to do and the youngsters found plenty of bars and clubs. We’ve been to a lot of ski resorts before and St Anton has better après ski than anywhere else. We had plenty of snow and sun all week (apart from Wednesday which was a white out) so we lucked out in terms of the weather. For our men’s trip the ski area was ideal as we’re all pretty experienced skiers. It looked like there was a bit of a leap between the nursery slopes and the main slopes, so I don’t know if I’d come here on a family trip with beginners.

Been to St Anton a couple of times and loved it. It’s not really too kind on beginners and we had some in our group, if I was doing a group holiday to St Anton again I’d probably bring intermediates and above. The après ski is the main reason I like it here, the Mooserwirt is another level and everyone always has a lot of fun there.

We like the Austrian ski resorts but weren’t as keen on St Anton, we found it a bit Euro – it seems to have lost a bit of its charm. The week we went was really off peak and we were amazed how busy it was, we still had to queue a lot for the top lift- it’s obviously an incredibly popular resort.
The ski area is great and if you’re a keen skier and there’s good snow, it’s amazing. It’s not really an area for beginners, not because there aren’t beginner facilities but just because the layout isn’t ideal, beginners would end up doing a lot of polling and walking. We did a paid trip to Lech with our reps which took up a whole day, I’m glad we did it although it snowed so much we couldn’t see a thing!
Would happily go back - with good snow it would be spectacular

This was our first time in St Anton and it was a lovely town; not a purpose built resort like you get in France, which have great skiing but horrible buildings, but a classic Austrian town. The resort is relaxed and we found some bars with live music and a good range of entertainment for both us and our sons.
Unfortunately this year the snow wasn’t so good, but we managed to find the best of it – we were up on the mountains for the whole time and had a fantastic time. If we weren’t good skiers it would have been different. It was pretty thin and icy on the easier slopes but because we were confident skiers, we could really make the most of the powder, jumping off the sides to get some snow. They did put on a couple of bus trips to other resorts nearby to take you to some better conditions, which was a nice touch.
My tip for anyone going here: there are a lot of ski areas around, don’t just stick to the local slopes in St Anton because there’s so much more out there. Go out exploring because you will find some great places. We loved being able to head off and explore with no idea what laid ahead.

I travelled from Lech/Zurs purely for the nightlife on the mountain in St Anton. We skiied from the half way point in the early afternoon and honestly even in february, the conditions were less than perfect (If you like a good mogul then it's great but if, like me, they make you want to cry then it's a tough ski) In Easter this ski was impossible as the entire run down to the apres bars was mud. St Anton is a little lower and the snow isn't as good late season. HOWEVER there is a bus that will take you from Lech, Zurs, Oberlech, Stuben and St Christoph and drops you at the foot of the slope where you can walk around the road to get to the back entrance of The Moosewirt (or jump in a taxi) We chose like madwomen to walk up the slope from main St Anton. It's a steepish red but by this point it was predominantly grass. Worth it? definitely. Krazy Kanaguruh is famous for being one of the apres bars in the world. When I visited in February we started off with a burger (the biggest burger i've ever seen) and a tray of jager. Within the hour it was packed and people were on the tables inside and champagne was flowing. Table service meant that my wine was constantly being filled up even from my personal podium and the partying spilled out on to the terrace even on one of the coldest nights of the season. The Mooserwirt is my personal favourite and is situated on the opposite side of the same run as KK. A more traditional setting of a massive log cabin with an outside bar, the entire outside is a sea of jumping, dancing punters. The music is what you would expect (some great europop classics and sweet caroline on repeat) interspersed with Mooserwirt's famous resident DJ who hasn't missed a night in the Moose for 20 years. You won't be able to get his song out of your head. Even as late as the last week of the season, though quieter, the staff were partying like it was new years eve. My recommendation, head to KK in the colder months for a better inside experience but as soon as the sun comes out, get yourself to the Moose and find a table early. Oh and skiing down afterwards...that's interesting.

We loved it! We have very fond memories of St. Anton. We were lucky with the snow, the conditions were good. My daughter had a ball – all the après ski was great for her. My son came too and he is a beginner snowboarder. Even though the resort isn’t known for being good for beginners and for snowboarders, they looked after him very well and he had a good time. I went to the Mooserwirt one day, it’s amazing, there’s a great ambience and it’s the place to come to party.
The equipment hire we booked through you was great, they were very helpful.
We would love to go back.
Best for intermediates and seasoned skiers

It’s a great resort. I’m not sure it’s beginner friendly, it was fine for us as we are experienced skiers but for our children it was quite difficult. The blue slopes weren’t so easy and some were quite steep. We were lucky that it snowed while we were there and that we had fresh powder because it was quite brown on the lower slopes (we went at the end of the season).
We didn’t go out much because we had the young children with us but we have been to St. Anton before and it can be party central. The famous bar the Krazy Kangaroo was closed, so it’s worth knowing that if you go the second week in April it won’t be open not that it mattered to us.

We had a great week – we’ll go back next year!
First time here and absolutely loved it! People obviously don’t get tired of St Anton – everyone else in our chalet had been before. It was late in the season and when we arrived it was rather green which was a concern, but they worked very hard to maintain the nursery slopes for the first couple of days. The area has something for everybody, initially people say it’s not for beginners but I think it depends what type of beginner you are. If you have someone who’s very anxious maybe not, but my husband hadn’t skied before and by the end of the week he was coming down blacks with me. It’s a great place for kids and I couldn’t say a bad word about the ski school.
Prefer Morzine and France

We went at the end of the season and the snow wasn’t good at all. It varied between slush and ice. It was raining when we left. I had the feeling that the whole place was closing down. It’s the 3rd time I’ve been to St. Anton and I don’t think I’d go again – I prefer Morzine and places with more character. It’s so clean and orderly around resort, it felt almost sanitised. The famous bars were shutting down, the Krazy Kangaroo was closed a lot and we didn’t go to the MooserWirt much. I was ill before I went which I don’t think helped my enjoyment of the holiday.
It’s pot luck with the snow late in the season. The week before didn’t have good snow, and I felt sorry for anyone who came skiing here the week after us because there wouldn’t have been any snow at all.
The ski area is large – we went over to Rendal, but the snow was so bad that the link to Lech and Zurs was closed. The lift system is amazing. There are some spectacular ones leaving from town – huge gondolas. Very impressive.
There are some good restaurants in town. We had a nice meal in an Italian restaurant opposite our chalet, and there is a steak bar called Anthony's, as well as a fish restaurant downstairs.

It was my first time in St. Anton, I would definitely go back. I am a top end beginner skier and the terrain was challenging enough for me. I was skiing together with some very good skiers, they thought that some of the blacks were easier than French blacks. It was late season and I was amazed to see as much snow as there was, we thought there might not be any left at all. They managed to keep the main runs back down into town open. It probably helped that there were 2 small dumps of snow while we were there.
The ski school was very good and our children were well looked after. They all spoke good English.
We only went out for one night as our chalet was catered. It was traditional Austrian fare, we liked it. There is also a nice pizza place in town. The food wasn’t ridiculously expensive although we had a heard that St. Anton is quite upmarket.

The snow was pretty rubbish while we were here (early April) but it looked like there was a lot of potential. I wanted to go off-piste, but the snow wasn’t really good enough. My advice is to go earlier in the season when the snow is better.
The lift system was very good, the lifts are fast and efficient, and the queues were small. The place we rented a snowboard from was very good - Skisport Fauner (right by the main roundabout and opposite the Intersport). The staff were very friendly and the prices were good. They were very accommodating, they even threw in a free helmet.
We didn’t go out a lot but we did stop for a drink at KK’s a couple of times. We didn’t get a chance to go to the Mooserwirt which was a shame. There’s meant to be a nice public pool in town. There’s also an indoor climbing wall by the station which looked good. For non-skiers there are some nice places to go for a walk as well, along the river.
Pretty good week, I like St Anton.

The hills are good and we had more than enough snow in April. There’s a Pizzeria called Pomodoro that is absolutely fabulous, top notch food. They don’t take bookings and they don’t need to, it’s always absolutely rammed at the end of the day!

We had a really good time. Everyone would say the same thing about St Anton – it’s not for beginners. My girls weren’t very experienced but are young and weren’t put off but for younger children it wouldn’t be ideal. If you’re an experienced skier, it has everything you want.
There are some lovely restaurants and bars like the Mooserwirt, so there’s certainly enough for young people.
We got a really good deal from SNO because it was late in the season and the snow was just about OK, it was lovely and sunny as our week went on so the quality went down a little as the week went on (the people the week after us would have had a hard time). If you got up to a certain height however, the snow was fine.

We were here at the very end of March/beginning of April because we had to work around university dates for the children, but you do need to go a little earlier for the best conditions. We still skied every day but just finished a little early a few times and went to the Krazy Kanguruh - St Anton is on a little hill and has lots of bars and plenty of après ski.
There are loads of lovely restaurants over in St Christoph and you can get the free bus over to Lech.
St Anton is quite an expensive resort like Val d’Isere and the shops are a little expensive, so it’s best to bring your stuff with you.

Hadn’t been here before but the après ski is mental! It’s a brilliant place and we all had a fantastic time. The only downside was that it was quite late in the season and there wasn’t much snow at the bottom, we’re mostly snowboarders but there wasn’t really any powder. We will definitely go back again but probably in March rather than April.

We stayed in Lech but actually spent most afternoons here and would definitely consider staying in St Anton next time. I learnt to ski in Val d’Isere which is my kind of resort and I have to say St Anton is a touch better. The après ski is amazing - KK’s (Krazy Kangruh’s) is where we spent most of our time but Mooserwirt is really good too.

I’d definitely go back to St. Anton, it’s a good resort, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if there had been more snow. We went over Christmas and it was quite crowded – I think this is because there were a lot of people who would normally ski off-piste who end up having to stick to the pistes. We were thinking about hiring a guide or doing some off-piste but the snow just wasn’t good enough (it’s been a bad snow year). The ski area caters for most. It’s probably best for intermediate/advanced skiers. We went over to Lech and Zurs and the areas further away. It was all good skiing, although I think the immediate area around St. Anton was the best. The après was typical really, the best bars are always the ones you go to just as you’ve come off the slopes. We didn’t go out too much in the evenings as we had a young lad with us.

I love it! I think it’s the best ski resort in Europe. It has great skiing and great après, which is unusual for a ski resort; most resorts have one or the other. The only thing is I don’t think it’s great for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers definitely get more out of the resort. I would strongly advise getting a guide while you are here, we hired one from the ski school by the main gondola and it was well worth it. They took us over to Zurs and Lech, and we skied all the way there and all the way back. We definitely wouldn’t have done all that if we had been on our own. If you have a guide then you definitely push yourself harder.
I’d recommend ‘The Museum Restaurant’ which is absolutely gorgeous. For the brave I would also advise a trip to the Wellman Clinic which is a big spa and sauna – it’s a nude sauna so be prepared to get naked… it’s a liberating experience! You obviously have to go to the Mooserwirt for the final countdown at 4pm for après, and then after go to the Krazy Kangaroo nearby and join in with everyone dancing on the tables (although this is only for skiers because you have to get down a red run after).

St Anton is like a strip that runs through the valley, it’s quite an old resort and has some history – some of the Austrian downhill champions came from here. The village is quite picturesque with some old original chalet buildings and a nice church.
Although it’s not a very big village, there’s a fair bit going on. Definitely go up to the spa centre on the upper part of town, there’s a really good pool and sauna complex and a big hot tub that you could swim in – it’s worth taking half a day off to visit.
The nightlife is good and there are lots of places to drink and eat – you’re not restricted to eating local food either (there’s a really cracking tapas place in town).
If you’re intermediate and above, you’re probably looking to ski over to the other smaller resorts quite quickly. Lech is certainly lesser known but I remember it being really nice. Of course this way you’re fairly reliant on buses but using them is pretty straight forward and they always have room for skis etc.
St Anton also has a huge summer community as I think it’s on a big cycling route – I’d love to go and see what it’s like in the summer.

We were all very impressed with St Anton; the kids especially rated it. The skiing opportunities are great, it’s a lovely set up and there is a good variety of slopes - my two youngsters are very proficient skiers and had enough challenges to keep them happy. It’s probably not fantastic for absolute beginners as there aren’t a lot of nursery slopes and the progression goes quite quickly to the upper level of difficulty - you don’t have lots of greeny stuff like you get in France. It’s definitely a better place if you’re more proficient. I was surprised how good the snow was in April, there were only one or two days when it was a bit marginal towards the end and there were a couple of poor vis days, but it didn’t stop us going out every day and we also had some lovely sunshine!
We wandered around the town a couple of evenings and our teens went out and partied every other night. There’s loads of stuff to do if you wanted it - we did a quiz one evening which was good fun. St Anton doesn’t have a huge selection of restaurants, we went to one in the town, which was fine, but there wasn’t a lot of choice and they only served the usual pizza/pasta stuff. There’s a supermarket in town so we just took our own food up the mountain as it’s much cheaper.

We absolutely loved St Anton!
It’s quite lively so you have to be a bit careful with where you book your accommodation if you're a light sleeper, but the ski area is fantastic with some lovely ski runs.
The resort is quite easy to get to – under 2 hours transfer from the airport – which is always a good thing.

We love St Anton, it’s our favourite location, we’ve returned a few times and have encouraged friends to go here too.
There’s a high level of skiing and snowboarding which suits our family well as we like to do a bit of both – we just like to cover the whole of the mountain and gobble it up. It’s definitely geared towards intermediates to advanced... this isn’t a great place for beginners at all as the area is quite challenging (there are ski schools but I think learning here would be extremely frustrating).
The pedestrian village is great as our teenage boys can do their own thing: it’s big enough that there is a lot to do and small enough that we don’t have to worry about them going too far. There are loads of good places to eat, Hospiz Alm and Rodel Alm are both right on the mountain and you can ski in and out for lunch and dinner. There’s also a very good place called the Ski Museum which has great food which is a bit more formal.

Our experience of St Anton was marred slightly by the lack of snow in the beginning of April, but if I picture it with a good coverage, I think it would be incredible.
You need to be a fearless skier to enjoy the area, if you were to take a nervous skier here you’d put them off for life.
I wouldn’t take a young family here (go to La Tania or La Plagne) but if you’re competent, there’s a lot to ski, I will definitely go back (earlier in the season next time!).

St Anton is a great place to go, it has amazing après ski and is very lively – you can’t go wrong with the Krazy Kanguruh and Mosserwirt.
Some slopes are steeper near the resort so maybe it’s not ideal for beginners.

St Anton is a fantastic resort! My two sons loved it!
We stayed in Pettneu which was about a 5 minute bus ride away from the main lift in St Anton. It’s much quieter than St Anton itself so is great for families.
There’s a lovely little cake shop at the bottom of the village where the bus stop is where we filled our pockets and a little supermarket for anything you need.
April snow hit & miss but love this place!

St Anton is truly the crown jewel of the Austrian Alps, sitting amidst the picturesque ski resorts of Lech and St Christoph, St Anton consists of an excellent variety of skiing runs to suits varying abilities ranging from the cautious beginner through to the seasoned off piste expert. A long day on the slopes is well rewarded with the best Après scene in the Alps! The Mooserwirt bar promises an electrifying yet delightfully Germanic drinking experience which is heralded every afternoon at 3 by the ceremonious playing of Europe's epic anthem "the final countdown" (that’s the anthem of the band Europe, not the characterless dirge of the European Union). If this isn't your scene you also have both Taps Coyotes and the world-renowned Krazy Kangaroo, to wet your whistle and get down and boogie with a few Jäger bombs. By night the resort does not disappoint and, if you've still got the energy, you can party all night long in the infamous Piccadilly club! An all-round excellent experience for families and groups of friends of any age group – I can’t recommend St Anton enough!
Amazing snow, most famous apres ski

Quite a low resort but amazing snow, huge skiing for intermediates and advanced and the most famous apres ski in Austria, probably in the world. The town is really cool, I thought not quite as lively as Saalbach/Hinterglemm but good fun. Having said that I did visit Saalbach when there were over 2000 students in town so I may have a slightly skewed view! The ski area is vast but beginners beware! There are plenty of tough runs and, getting back into resort at the end of the day, a lot of the pistes would turn into mogul fields, so you need to be a competent skier to really make the most of the area. Having said that, there’s lots of beginner space, so just be sure you know where you’re going and you won’t come a cropper!
