Peaceful village location

The Hotel L’Alpazur is in Monetier-les-Bains, which is a quiet village about half an hour on the coach from Serre Chevalier. Because you’re in the non touristy part of town, the area had a very strong French appeal (we had a bit of trouble watching the football one night as it was all in French!). There’s nothing much there, so if you don’t ski you would probably get bored. One thing that is nice are the thermal baths which I would definitely recommend.
Getting to the ski slopes is a bit of a walk and not the easiest walk at that (especially when you’re coming back up) but there is a bus which makes things a bit easier.
There probably are 4* rooms in the hotel but ours wasn’t one of them, it was quite basic but adequate.
The food was good, they did buffet type meals with wine on the table (the red was OK but the white was awful).
