Götzens is a lovely, beautiful little village. I love it! The skiing facilities were very good. I would recommend getting the Olympic pass, or upgrading while you are here, and then taking the bus to the Stubai glacier for at least one day. It was a very different experience skiing over there than the local area and it was really good. There are two bus stops in the village and there are several different areas to choose from to ski. The local area is good for warming up on.
The facilities in the village were great, you didn’t need to carry your skis to the lifts, you could leave them there. We didn’t really eat out much but the food at our hotel (Clubhotel Gotzens) was very good. The service in Austria is brilliant and everyone in the resort was so friendly.
We also did a trip to Innsbruck one day, it’s so easy to get to from Gotzens, it only takes about 15 minutes on the bus. You can go explore the old town, there are lots of shops and things to see, I really like Innsbruck.
There’s not much to do in the village in the evenings, it’s a small place. My son got a little bored, but it’s a great place for a quiet ski holiday and for couples.

Axamer Lizum is a small Austrian town/village, not really a ski resort in itself. It has good links to 2 ski resorts by bus. It’s good for people who are on a budget and don’t mind putting the effort in to get to the ski resort in the morning. If you aren’t interested in après ski then it’s fine. There are only about 3 or 4 bars and 2 places to eat. We liked it though, we had a good holiday and we enjoyed the skiing.

Axamer Lizum is like a plateau with mountains behind it, the hotels are high up on the plateau and the ski area is the next bit up while Innsbruck is down in the valley. There was hardly anyone on the slopes and for easy skiing, the area is lovely. We wanted to try the glacier one day but it was absolutely freezing which we weren’t prepared for in March - we didn’t have the right clothes and everyone coming down off the mountain looked frozen! It’s also quite expensive to ski the glacier for a day but if you want to ski some challenging blacks it’s probably worth doing.
We didn’t do much in the evenings, but a few people seemed to be going out. You can definitely go into Innsbruck for a night out as it’s really nearby.
The tourist information are good, you can book to go on the glacier and we went into Innsbruck one day which is a lovely town.
