The Easter holidays marks the arrival of the sun in the Portes du Soleil area, somewhat explaining the areas name! The variety of resorts set at different altitudes means that serious skiers and those looking for a slightly more relaxed holiday will be more than satisfied.
Avoriaz has the highest altitude, sitting at 1800m, with slopes stretching up to 2466m, meaning that snow is usually still easy to find.
The lower resorts like Les Gets and Morzine will certainly have snow to be enjoyed in the morning. In the afternoon, however, quality may not be as good, due to the warmer temperatures. Don’t let that put you off, Easter is a great time for learners and younger ones, as the weather makes practising much more pleasant, as conditions earlier in the season may be a little more extreme. All the large resorts usually do an Easter egg hunt, and there are also plenty of activities and facilities to keep the whole family amused in the afternoons, if the snow is a bit on the slushy side.
Les Gets, Avoriaz and Morzine all have fantastic wellness facilities available, with the Aquariaz centre in Avoriaz providing stunning views from the comfort of a warm pool. For those wanting to explore, all the resorts have mountain trails to be walked, with the warm weather and clear skies, the scenery is bound to be breath-taking. For children, cinemas and bowling alleys are available in Les Gets, Avoriaz and Morzine.
