It’s great time to hit the slopes with the kids during half term, and a quieter resort like Zurs can help you avoid some of the crowds. There’s usually some pretty epic snow to be found around this time of year, and you’ll be able to meet plenty of likeminded travellers. The cold can be an issue in some resorts during February for the little ones, but not so in Zurs- heated and covered chairlifts keep everyone warm all the way to the top. Most of the terrain that’s accessed straight from the resort is good for beginners and intermediates- even the youngest members of the family will be able to have a potter around the super baby lift.

There are hundreds of instructors spread between the region’s many ski schools so the whole family can pick up some tips and tricks over the week. Children’s instruction is available for kids as young as 3, and the day is broken up by an assortment of snowy activities such as snowman building- there are inside activities if anyone gets too cold. Advanced instructors and guides are also available for more adventurous youngsters (and parents), and Lech’s snowpark has features suitable for all levels of freestyler.

Many of the hotels in resort can arrange child care if the whole family isn’t heading out together in the evening- though Googies babysitting can help out if this isn’t an option. The hotels are all in easy walking distance of the slopes which is brilliant for little ones learning to walk in ski boots.

A self-drive holiday over half term lets you miss out on lengthy check in lines and crowded airports, and will make the journey itself part of the adventure- pack the car with treats in Calais and you’ll be in the mountains before you know it. If you’re unwilling to sacrifice a day’s skiing then book a package with flights and transfers included- you’ll just have to worry about organising the family, as we’ll have taken care of all the other logistics for you.
