Montafon has plenty to offer in the week away from the classroom. A range of skiing, leisure activities and evening venues combine to deliver the perfect break to everyone wishing to kick back and let their hair down during their stay.
If you’re planning a family trip during the week off school, the International Ski Area Test has commended the Montafon region for its opportunities for children – making the area a clear choice for families during the holidays. Not only are there 10 ski schools in the area, but various activities geared towards children are available to enjoy.
The Golm Children’s Ski Safari tour offers off-piste skiing to young enthusiasts who have already conquered the piste, entertaining them with jokes and stories as they learn to navigate deep snow and moguls – stopping for lunch with a BBQ in the forest. There’s also an array of crèches and childcare facilities in the valley including the NTC Dreamland, located at the summit of the Schruns gondola.
Adults will find plenty of wellness facilities in the resort to help them unwind over the break, whilst an indulgent meal in one of the villages’ many restaurants (Freida at the MOLodge specialises in gourmet cuisine) is a must. Teens might also enjoy a day’s snowboarding tuition with Skischule Gargellen or spending some time shredding the Nike Snowpark.
February sees some of the best snow in the resort, making Montafon a great choice for a Half-Term getaway. Thanks to the orientation of the slopes, the runs shouldn’t become hugely slushy in the later-season afternoons as they face north-eastwards, whilst the comprehensiveness of the lift technology works hard to prevent overcrowding.
