Overview - chalet description - The Silvana description

The Silvana (sleeps 6-7) 1600m. The Silvana is superb and a much-loved part of our Meribel programme which has proved hugely popular with many of our guests who stay there year after year.

Located in an attractive Alpine building in the Morel area of Meribel, this wonderful first and second floor split-level duplex apartment offers great accommodation for groups of 6/7 people.  There are four bedrooms including a much sought-after single room which is idea for whole groups of 7 although the property is ordinarily considered full at 6.  The living room is warm and cosy with a wonderful corner log fire and doors leading a super balcony.  The Silvana's English owners have taken real pride in decorating the property to the highest of standards whilst combining Alpine tradition with modern, comfortable furnishings and fittings.

The Silvana is set in great position in Morel so you an take advantage of the few bars and restaurants in the immediate viciinity.  Skiing is easily accessible via a flat walk along to the blue slope leading down to the village and Chaudanne or alternatively the local free bus stops nearby if one prefers.  The Morel chairlift which will whisk you directly into the Altiport skiing area is only a short walk away. The main square is about a 15 minute walk away (downhill so slightly more on the way back!) with its many shops, bars and restaurants which this world-famous village has become renowned for... as well as, of course, being at the heart of the Three Valleys ski circuit, arguably the biggest area in the World.

You will be warmly welcomed to The Silvana by one of our hand-selected chalet hosts who lives out but nearby.

Did You Know: The name Silvana is of Italian origin and translates as "woodland" or "forest" - the perfect name for a property such as this set in a peaceful and tranquil location amongst the beautiful fur trees of Meribel...

Meals - food and drink in The Silvana

We offer our properties on a flexible catering basis therefore providing our guests with as much choice as possible when choosing a fully-catered, part-catered or self-catered chalet or apartment. Your preferences will be discussed at the time of booking and a tailor-made itinerary will be costed based on your requirements.

Our chalet hosts all enjoy cooking and take pride in what they serve and whilst they are not necessarily qualified chefs, they have good experience of dinner party cooking and many of them will have attended one of the well-regarded cookery schools with whom we work closely to ensure the highest calibre of staff possible.

If choosing the fully catered or part catered option, you will be assured of good home-cooked food prepared and served by our specially selected chalet hosts. We do not offer luxury items or haute cuisine, we serve good wholesome hearty food fit for anyone after a hard day on the slopes. Menus will be varied and may include local dishes as well as the more traditional UK favourites such as roasts, lasagne or casseroles.

Our menus have been formed over many years taking into account previous guests’ likes and recommendations and whilst we believe this plan to offer excellent variety, there will be the odd occasion when a dish might not be well-received. We would ask you therefore that if you have any specific dietary requirements or a yearning for dishes in particular, you enquire before booking your holiday and provide us with as much notice as possible regarding specific diets such as vegetarian, vegan, celiac or non-dairy etc.

We update The Silvana's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

This accommodation only holiday to The Silvana in Meribel & Mottaret, France departs Saturday 17th December 2016, for a 3 night stay on a "self catering" board basis. A local tourist tax (Taxe de Sejour or Kurtaxe) is levied by many councils in European ski resorts. It varies by standard and type of accommodation and is age dependent, so not everyone is charged. It's not included in the basic price of your holiday and is usually paid locally. For reference, the average charged in winter 15/16 was between 50p and £2 per person, per night.

3 Valleys ski area Excellent ski schools Lively après ski

Meribel has a special place in many British hearts – not simply because it’s slap bang in the middle of the biggest ski area on Earth. A resort for long ski days, ski-boot-stomping après and cosy chalets, there’s a great deal to do and ski here, which is why many of us have been coming back for decades.

As its heart shaped logo suggests, Meribel prides itself in its location at the very centre of the Three Valleys. British made and predominantly British run, it's a destination we flock to year after year for a home-from-home atmosphere with a fantastic range of skiing and snowboarding terrain in a picturesque location. The resort consists of gorgeous alpine hamlets made up of traditional wood and stone buildings and surrounded by woodland. The main area is Les Allues (usually known just as Meribel). A char...
With three beginner areas known as ‘Zen Zones' plus some good greens to practice on including Le Foret, Altiport and the Cool Moon area (specifically located so you can practice at your own pace in quiet surroundings), Meribel is great if you're skiing for the first time. If you're skiing with little ones there are fantastic ski schools and families really appreciate Meribel for its child-orientated sections, including animal sculptures scattered around the trees. Moon Wild is a special area where children ca...
Whether your day on the hill leaves you wanting to relax with a vin chaud, have a pint and play pool, or party the night away, your time off the slopes will be as varied as the days spent cruising the incredible Trois Vallees. It’s said that you haven't experienced après ski here until you've sampled toffee vodka... we say the only real “must do” is Le Rond Point, which is perhaps the most famous après ski bar in the world. Meribel is rightly famous for its night life with a variety of pubs, bars and clu...

"Everything we were expecting."

We had a lovely week, the Silvana is a nice chalet and we were really pleased with it; everything looked just like the pictures. The fact that there’s an open fire is always good, and I liked the setup of the living space, which was away from the kitchen so you had a bit of privacy while the chalet hosts were cooking. I also liked that it’s on 2 levels, and that there are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It’s not ski in, ski out, but it didn’t claim to be – the access to the slopes was as described, about a five minute walk that was a little uphill on the way back. The only things that we were lacking: We’ve always tended to eat out in the evenings but were a bit disappointed with Meribel which didn’t seem to have many places to eat, and was a bit quiet (maybe because it was late in the season or that Meribel’s very chalet centred?). Also, we normally find a bakery within a 1-2 minute walk that delivers a set of pastries to your door, like croissants and pain au raisin, but here we couldn’t find much apart from bread.
